The Mundiverse: A world much like ours except controlled by a questionably moral organization that makes sure that everything stays normal (so maybe not at all different from ours!)

Roughworld: A post apocalyptic earth where the united states is ruled by a person who literally calls themselves Mad. Also there are survivalist mercenaries and people who turn into mechanical monstrosities based off of emotion.

Rimcast: Seven worlds that share dimensional borders and there is crazy magic and a distinct lack of multiculturalism (with the notable exception of the draconians, who enforce it among themselves)

The World of Lost Gods: Another earth-like setting where gods are formed from culture and exist everywhere (but only countercultures really know about them)

Pact City: A strange, almost empty city that seems to pull in 20 somethings with no future and is home to dangerous contracts called pacts.

Violent City: A city that exists outside of reality that is made mostly of organic material and is ruled by the maniacal Mr. V, who steals copies of people from various realities and forces them to fight to the death, presumably for his amusement.

One thing I really like to do when creating and refining settings is to give them some sort of distinctive feeling or aesthetic. It could be described as the texture of the series perhaps? 

Also, it's important to note that it doesn't really have as much bearing on the stories that take place in the setting; sure some of that feeling will be evoked, but it's background radiation for the most part. 

6th Age Rimcast, as an example, is bright, it's a hopeful, growing world full of opportunity and wonder. That's not to say that bad things don't happen (they happen plenty), but things will always look bright, lines will be crisp and bold, and there'll be things to brighten the mood. 

As a counterpoint, the World of Lost Gods is dark, but more than that, it's gritty, it's grainy. It's a world where the guiding lights have long gone out, where things have hit rock bottom and, instead of climbing back up, the world decided to just sit there for a while. Lines will be sketchy and unstable, lighting will be dark, and humor is often dark and dry.

Hmm, I'm not sure whether or not I should go the "beauty is never tarnished" route with The Iron Princess (I need an actual name for her hmm). I'm thinking not because not only would it not make sense for her to look great after being blown to pieces and rebuilt it's kinda sexist. Like, "guys can get all scarred and ugly and stuff but can still be cool because they're male but girls can never be 'ugly' because if they're not attractive then no one will ever want to look at them or some crap"

Seriously, nuts to that noise. TIP is gonna have a boatload of scars and nasty metal plates riveted to her bones and magitech limbs and she is going to rock it. Half of her face is metal and that doesn't matter because she's a fantastic leader and tactician and warrior and she's also going to dress up on occasion because that has nothing to do with any sort of "appearance" nonsense and that's what she likes to do.

Also what should her name be (help me out here)?

Several key characters from the sixth era:

Siegfried Thossun: A human born in the latter half of the era, but is perhaps the most powerful djinn to have ever existed (jury is still out on that one). He becomes one of the most important figures of the era, but his roots are surprisingly humble: he was a carpenter's apprentice in a small northern village on dulme. He has a tendency to stick his nose where it doesn't belong and cause a bunch of problems, but you can always rely on him to fix them.

Justinian Law: A human born around the same time as Siegfried to a very poor family on Ulquea. Becomes an awesome pirate dude and that's all I'm gonna say.

The Iron Princess: An Elf princess of a kingdom in Elrean who was horribly disfigured at a young age. In order to save her life, she was fitted with various magitech implants and steel plates, giving her the unfortunate (if somewhat BA) title she has today. She is known for wearing full plate armor almost everywhere she goes, and often wears either a full helm or an Iron mask.

Rimcastian Eras

Rimcast has "eras" and there's about 7 of them that really matter so pay attention

The first era is the Era of Founding, when the Founders walked among mortals and guided them along their path. This lasted a very long time and no time at all due to reasons. It ended when the Beast rampaged across the worlds and fought the Founders (neither party was ever seen again).

The second era is the Era of Ruin, wherein people rebuild and restart their lives. Entire climates have changed so there's a lot of adapting to do. It lasts around 300 years. It segues into the next age when the grand alliance is formed.

The third era is the Era of Kings, where all 6 worlds are unified in the grand alliance, upheld by the 13 kings, 7 lords, and 3 councils. Things are pretty great, quests are undertaken, and all in all the world is back on track. It lasts around 200 years, but eventually the alliance is shattered.

The fourth era is the Era of Blood, composed of widespread war and destruction caused by the shattering of the grand alliance and the rise of the great warlocks. Necromancy, thought a lost art, resurfaces and causes a lot of problems. It lasts 200 years, and ends with the creation of the Magekillers.

The fifth era is the Era of Steel. Thanks to the mechanical monstrosities made to combat the necromancer and warlock threat, widespread industrialization occurs and nations begin to compete for wealth and technology instead of for arms and force. It is also characterized by a complete hatred of magic and those who use it. It lasts for around 100 years, but ends with the chaos plague.

The sixth era is the Era of Magic. The mages who were so shunned in the previous era are now revered, thanks to their curing of the chaos plague. Magitech begins full development, and there are a whole bunch of advances in all sorts of fields. It lasts for 200 years and ends with the Great Migration.

The seventh era starts 1000 years after the battle between the Beast and the Founders, and is the Era of Change, a turning point that no one saw coming. Billions of people have flooded into the worlds from somewhere else, and few know how or why. Horrific monsters called Excesses ravage the land, and the worlds threaten to collapse.

Things to do this week:

Write up theoretical build for a tentative mlp-themed mafia

decide whether or not to write the ponies in Rimcast fanfic that's been kicking up dust in my head for the past coupla years (has it really been that long? wow)

in fact, come to think of it, the elementals have existed in my head in some form or another since 8th grade, roughworld since 9th, and rimcast since 6th at latest

but all I've actually done so far is make a few false starts on various mundiverse things (and written a crappy piece of flash-fiction), and written a short story set in rimcast

hmm, that decides it then, my oldest world will get the first new thing in a while! It'll probably be a multi part fic and you know what, I'm going to go start on it right now. Like, it's 2am but I don't care, I gonna start writing crossover pony fanfiction.

I've finally come up with names for all three of my big settings

The setting with the elementals and Mundis will be called the Mundiverse, because why not? Rimcast is Rimcast because Rimcast is a cool name, and the final one, a dystopian future type thing, will be called Roughworld, after the Mayhem song of the same name.

So yeah, I now have tags for all of them and a shorter way of referring to them should the need arise.

(not that these are all of the ideas or settings that I have, but they're the major ones)
