WE'RE BACK, BABY

Haikyuu littles stress out because of school

Characters : Kageyama, Oikawa, and Tendo

Kageyama

— yes, he had been purposely avoiding his school work so he could practice more, but he never would have expected so much stress to fall on him when he finally got to doing the work

— the moment he buried through his backpack to pull out all his missed work, he felt like he was suffocating

— he hadn’t realized he missed so much work and all that stress fell heavy on his shoulders

— he slipped within seconds of starting the first worksheet

— he called Hinata, pressing exactly the right buttons he remembered being told

— Hinata barely got a word out before kageyama interrupted with a very small, very shaky ‘little’

— tears were rushing down his face and the longer he stared at the worksheets, the more he wanted to full on sob

— Hinata came over to help calm him down and once kageyama had stopped crying, he got to relax a little

— he put off his work just one more night so he could watch cartoons and snuggle with Hinata

— although he was sure this would repeat when he would try to do his work again the next day

Oikawa

— usually, he’s very good about keeping up with his class work, but lately he had been falling really far behind which stressed him out

— of course, he didn’t tell Iwaizumi, in fear of being scolded and made to sit down to do all his late work in one go

— but all the stress fell on his shoulders and while on a call with Iwaizumi, he was scribbling and rushing through his work

— he barely held up a conversation and he was in tears in just a few moments of starting his second worksheet

— Iwaizumi tried to ask him what was wrong but when Oikawa only sobbed harder, he decided it was best to just come over

— Oikawa was sitting on his bed, sobbing in front of all his work when Iwaizumi got to his house

— Iwaizumi put away all the work and snuggled with Oikawa on the bed, shushing him and petting his hair

— Oikawa calmed down and swore he would never be behind on his work ever again after he finished what he had

— but until then, he was slipped peacefully into his headspace to relieve himself of that stress

Tendō

— when tendō gets stressed, he doesn’t typically break down and slip into his headspace

— he actually pushes it and Ushijima as far away as he can until he snaps

— this has become a somewhat regular pattern and Ushijima could tell when Tendo was pushing him away to avoid hearing anything that could get him to slip

— he stared at his work, tug his hair, bounced his leg, tapped his pen on the desk, anything to keep him out of his headspace

— but he couldn’t keep it up for long, he knew that

— The moment Ushijima placed a hand on his head to pet his hair and ask him in that deep, caring voice if he was alright, Tendo had fallen

— shaking his head, he stared at his lap and chewed his lip before changing to his fingers to chew on

— Tendo was happy to push away the binder of worksheets and change into his baggy onesie

— after all, cartoons were better than work for a little boy
