Today I'm gonna tease you with the story that'll go up on April 20th, by @madronash (writer), @rinari7 (beta), @anandabrat (helper/second beta), and @elle-arts (artist)! Here's what they've cooked up for us:
The Hanged Man: Myka and Claudia set off for Cornwall to investigate some mysterious disappearances, Helena's orb in tow. When Helena finds a wicked pack of cards, she and Myka don't expect to get sucked into another world… a world created by another woman unappreciated in her time, and designed to challenge their assumptions about their own. This story uses the multi-layered symbolism of Tarot and combines it with a sharp critique of how symbols are created, who they’re for, and how to embrace them without becoming lost in the process. Follow Helena and Myka as they traverse a strange landscape, discover each other anew, encounter familiar characters in ways they’ve never seen before, and ultimately carve their way towards a future together.
Listen, I have no idea about the whole concept of Tarot, but I'm excited to read this and not just enjoy an awesome Bering and Wells story but learn something in the process!
If you're as excited as I am, please show your love by reblogging this (go wild in the tags too!) - nothing is more motivating and encouraging for a creator than seeing their work get love and attention! So, let's all cheer them on on their home stretch!
Here's the cover I made for "Dawn of the Dragonborn: Heart of a Hero, Heart of a Predator, Heart of Dovahkiin” by @rinari7 and beta’d by @amtrak12
Summary:
A vampire. A Dragonborn. Two women, a little in love. Coffee? Mead? Or maybe save the world…
M'aiq'a is an investigative agent for the Penitus Oculatus, the Emperor's personal bodyguard, sent to Skyrim to try and figure out what's behind these damned vampire attacks that killed her foster brother. Hlenea, clutching an ancient scroll and beset by gargoyles, is the woman she quite literally unearths, sought after by vampires and hunters alike.
'Beware of becoming the very thing you despise' has never been more true. Never mind falling for one...
But centuries of unlife make for layers of secrets, and trust is hard to come by. The world is running out of time, and they will both have larger roles to play than either of them ever wanted...
It’s day 21, and today’s ficlet is by @tryingthisfangirlthing: Never Masturbate to Thoughts of Your Roommate, enjoy!
Warning: this fic is NSFW! If you are a minor or uncomfortable reading smut, skip today’s fanfic. You can still easily understand the previous and following parts.
You can find links to all works on tumblr and in the Ao3 collection!
Are you already curious about crate number twenty-two? Tomorrow’s fanfic is being prepared by @lavendelhummel.
It’s been a while, but I want to point your rizzles-starved eyes to these short beauties.
https://archiveofourown.org/series/426862
Three brief character studies, and imho they are hella good. They catch Maura and Jane pretty really close to how I imagine them, which actually is a bit unnerving and painful because these are not very happy people.
This is good stuff, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not super-feel-good material because they are after all one person who get shot at and one who cuts up dead bodies.
What it needs is a short fourth story, telling us how it ends.
@rinari7 replied to your post “@rinari7 replied to your post “me @ every fandom i join: please love...”
Eee! Okay, so. You've probably already at least heard of some of these, but. :) Once Upon a Time (for random magic), Supergirl (for superheroes), Rizzoli and Isles (if you like cop shows but probably not your thing), Warehouse 13 (currently swallowing my brain, magical object hunting), The Devil Wears Prada (surprisingly good movie and low time investment to be able to read *all the fic*). Shows that are still kinda F/M dominated but have a decent femslash ratio on AO3 +
(i love cop shows! i used to watch Rizzoli and Isles back when it was first airing but I got super far behind on it.) (I also read some of the books before i started the show/before the show was even announced!) (me: is a secret cop show/mystery novel junkie)
I know OUAT had/has a good femslash community but i never could get into the show! like it seems like it should be right up my alley?? i watched the first couple seasons?? just, didn’t get hooked lol.
I know nothing about Warehouse 13 so i may have to look into that one!
Teslen + pirate AU and gamer/nerd AU ;D Sam/Jack + fantasy AU and BDSM AU ^^
Ok, so I’m not big into the pirate thing, so… bear with me. (Also, I’m concentrating on Helen because just imagine her in a stereotypical pirate’s outfit, with all her swagger? Hello!)
Helen first became a pirate under Captain Druitt. She had been kidnapped, but through grit and determination (and knowing her way around many weapons both the captain and his first mate - James, natch - kept aboard) she turned from damsel in distress to Captain Magnus, Scourge of the Seven Seas.
Her vessel was bequeathed to her by Captain Griffin, who wished to retire to an island with his bounty and his wife, so The Ruby Dawn may sail forever more. Nigel, in his haste to scarper to his island, neglected to tell his compatriot in piracy his plan, which is why Helen awoke one night to a knife to her throat and a growl in her ear asking, “Where’s the captain of the ship, wench?” With the ease of practice (one of the only women aboard ship made for an “easy” target in the minds of lesser men, made less by her steel), she had him on the floor, knife in her hand, the stranger between her thighs, his eyes flashing dangerously. “She is here. Address me as such, insolent dog.”
A tentative truce formed between the pair, slowly leading to shared raids (they both had small, but perfectly formed, crews but they both liked pillaging the larger ships) then private meets to “discuss plans”, in any place with a sturdy enough plane (wall, floor, ladder, door).
They don’t agree on everything (it’s Nikola and Helen, when do they?) and their fights are the stuff of legend not just for their own crews, but a fair portion of other crews too. They brawl, and sword fight, and throw things (insults first but it soon devolves to actual items) but the idea of, “I can fight you, no one else can,” is in full force with them. Another captain tries to fight either and they unite quicker than magnets.
More than once, in their haste to return to their ships after a “meeting”, they wear the other’s shirt/coat/hat. Nikola won’t admit it but he likes wearing her things (and seeing her in his).
(Eeep, one more for luck.) - They never married, but everyone knew he was hers and she was his.
Ok, gonna put the cut here because the post is long and the last one is (obviously) not for underage people. You have been warned.
Gamer/Nerd AU
(Ok, this is more my speed. I like computer games and stuff. XD)
They met on an MMORPG, which neither now plays as it sold out after the second round of extra content. She was a paladin, he was a hunter. They would sometimes join their guildies to do raids and dungeons, and everyone dealt with Nikola’s flighty fighting because Helen was an amazing tank.
They also play card games. They both applied to take part in a Pokémon card tournament, and both got to the final. Nikola won with his lucky Jolteon.
Helen tells everyone her favourite type of game is a puzzle action game, like Legend of Zelda or Alundra, but she really loves platformers. Nikola goes through obsessions, and at the moment its the Professor Layton games.
They have a YouTube channel, mostly for Nikola to show off, but his best rated videos are the ones with him and Helen playing games together, bantering and being themselves, and people actually tell him, when he does an end of year what should I do next video, that there should be more Teslen videos.
For birthdays/Christmas, they commission fandomy presents for each other. Nikola’s favourite is still the first present Helen gave him - an actual print of a fanart of his hunter - although the mint in box copy of Final Fantasy VII has pride of place in their home, next to her beat up Pokémon Crystal cartridge (her first proper Pokémon game that she bought with her own pocket money).
They have a room in their house for gaming/recording/various computer based things. All their special fandomy things are on display in there. They also have laptops so they can compare games between their super awesome desktop pcs and their pretty awesome laptops.
When they’re not gaming/editing/doing whatevs in the computer room, they curl up on the sofa, drinking tea and watching sci-fi, or playing board games. Helen wins at chess and Monopoly, but Nikola is a demon playing Snakes and Ladders.
Fantasy AU
(Sam/Jack!!! <3<3<3) Ok, not super into fantasy past LotR or The Dark Tower (I know, two different types of fantasy), so if this is trope-y, that’s why. XD
When they go on adventures, Jack is the leader, and a swordsman that only draws his blade to kill. He was a member of an elite squad until he lost his taste for death. Now he only fights/kills when he has to. Sam is a mage who tends to fight with fire/electric magic. She would have been a member of the same elite squad had she not fallen in love with Jack and he hadn’t fallen for her.
Sam is the daughter of an important lord, and had to keep her magic casting secret as women of the land were only to be healers or mothers. A woman caught transgressing would be put to death. Sam, therefore, dresses and travels as a man in her own country... Until she gets sick of it when she’s older. She starts fighting as herself, and her electric magic strengthens as she isn’t hiding a art of herself.
Sam hunts the food, Jack cooks the food (unless it’s fish, then Jack catches the fish himself).
When they aren’t adventuring, Jack does woodwork. Sam is a mechanic of sorts - fixing windmills, spinning wheels, things like that. Jack sometimes makes the parts to replace the broken ones.
An evil sorcerer placed a charm on Sam’s heart so that it wouldn’t beat with love for Jack. The sorcerer was paid to do so by a lonely toll house operator who had seen Sam with Jack and thought the sun rose and shone because of her. Jack for ages couldn’t understand why Sam was behaving so oddly, and for a while things looked bleak. He was about to let her leave for good when he kissed her, in front of the toll house operator, one last time. The charm was lifted. Sam was freed, as the operator had witnessed true love’s kiss. (Sam then punched the living daylights out of the guy because who the hell uses a charm like that in this day and age?)
BDSM AU. This one is kinda influenced by two Sam/Jack fics I read ages ago - Leather & Lace (it’s a series by Kimberly Jackson) and Trust Me by @amaradangeli. (I would heartily recommend both.) (And yes, this is probably just as trope laden as my previous head canons.)
Jack likes tying Sam up and torturing her (usually orgasm denial, but it’s dependent on his mood). He’s really good at that fine line balance of pleasure/pain.
Their D/s dynamic doesn’t always bleed through into their day to day dynamic, but there are times when Jack will say something a certain way and Sam’s eyes glaze for a moment. He always notices.
Sam likes the pretty patterns rope bondage leaves on her skin (Jack likes seeing them).
Jack gave Sam a box one birthday, and told her to come down to dinner in it’s contents. She ate dinner at his knee, naked except for the velvet choker around her neck.
They discovered Sam’s sub side sorta by accident - they were messing around one evening and Jack says he isn’t above spanking her. Its the way her breath catches, her big eyes wide and expressive, that tells him this is something they could explore together.
When they cuddle afterwards, it always feels like the place is glowing and warm, even if it isn’t physically. They always feel calmer after a session.
If you’ve made it to the end, well done, you deserve a prize! XD Not sure what sort of prize, but yeah. XD
For the autumn prompts: rustling leaves. Is Jenny from Spirit Trap x Tenth Doctor something that would work for you? (It's something that jumped into my head a while back and I'd love to see it.) If not I'm also happy with Hardy x Hannah or Doctor x Rose. :)
@lizziea2 said to lostinfic: Doctor/Rose Autumn foliage for the fic bingo ask.
Jenny & The Doctor ( NOT shippy); Ten x Rose implied.
Sometimes inspiration comes from the most unexpected prompts ;)

A message fromthe Great (parallel universe) Beyond
The weather was perfect, warm enough that Jenny didn’tneed a jacket, a hoodie sufficed, but cool enough that she had to wear a scarf.Perfect. Now that she’d discovered her psychic powers, she dreaded Halloween, but that didn’t stop her from enjoying the season. So, on her way back homefrom a psychic reading, she took a detour through the forest to fill her lungswith that crisp, earth-scented air.
She sighed contentedly. Nothing like the satisfaction of a job well-done: Mr.Richardson go to tell his deceased son he loved him one last time, and, whenshe left, he was smiling again.
She walked into the woods until she couldn’t heartraffic anymore. She paused to admire the fiery autumn colours and took a fewpics with her cell.
Suddenly, the wind picked up, rustling tree branches andraising dead leaves off the ground. Air and leaves swirled around her. Jennyhad had enough encounters with the occult lately to know this was nonatural phenomenon.
“Whorp, whorp, whorp.”
Jenny whirled around to see a blue police boxmaterializing in the clearing. A policeman’s ghost perhaps. She clutched theamulet around her neck and stepped back in the shadow of a tall oak. A skinnyman in a brown suit stepped out, looking very much alive.
“Why did you take me here?” he asked the police box.
Jenny chuckled, attracting his attention. The man’seyes widened and his jaw dropped.
“Rose?”
“What?”
“Rose, I— you’re not Rose.”
Hepulled a metal stick from his inner pocket and ran it up and down her body.
“Oi!”
“Whoare you?” the man asked.
“I’mJenny Ashcroft.”
Hepulled a face, indicating he didn’t care much for any Jenny.
“Andwho are you?”
“Oh, I’mthe Doctor. Sorry, you look exactly like… well, like this friend I had.”
“Had?”Perhaps this was why she’d been put on this mysterious man’s path.
“Yes,she’s gone. Anyway.” He pulled on his ear. “So, Jenny, Jennifer, Jen… where arewe?”
“London.”
“Uh.”He looked up at the sky. “Any zeppelin in this London?”
“Er, Idon’t think so.”
“Alright, then. That’s okay. Normal. Good old London.”
Hestared at his red Converse, and Jenny had the distinct impression he wasavoiding looking at her. She must remind him too much of his departed friend.
“Doctor, that friend of yours, what if I said I could help you contact her?”
“How?”
“Well,I’ve got this ability, kind of psychic.”
“Oh! Oh.No, no. That won’t be necessary.”
Jennyhadn’t been doing this long enough to build a carapace, every rejection and sneering hurt.
“I’mserious!” she said, hands on her hips. “It’s real, I can do it.”
“No,but the things is… unless… well, I suppose I haven’t got many more options.Okay, Jenny the psychic, let’s do this!” He grinned.
SinceJenny already had her material with her, it was only a matter of finding a suitablesurface to put down a candle, a bouquet of sage and a planchette. A flat rockdid the trick, and they both sat cross-legged beside it.
“Rose,was it?”
“Yes. Rose Tyler.”
“Do youhave anything of hers?”
TheDoctor rummaged, elbow-deep, around his pocket. He pulled out a hair clip. Noboyfriend had ever looked at Jenny the way this man looked at that hair clip.
“Istarted carrying them around for her after a particularly windy adventure,” heexplained.
Jennycarefully clasped the hair clip in one hand and the Doctor’s hand in the other. She closed her eyes and breathed deeply, focusing on the object and Rose’sname. It took longer than usual, but Jenny finally felt a tenuous connection.Rose Tyler was in another world, yes, but she didn’t feel dead. She felt… asleep?
“Doctor, you can talk to your friend now.”

In Pete’sworld, Rose Tyler dreamt of the Doctor calling her name and guiding her toNorway.
(Teaser for story #1) (Teaser for story #2) (Teaser for story #3)
Coming in on April 22, we have @rinari7 (writer), @amtrak12 (beta reader) and @sharkbatez (artist), offering you this story:
What makes a monster? Fangs, killing, feeding from prey? Murder for survival? A focus on personal vengeance?
Circumstance can be a funny thing. Story of M'aiq'a's life, really, especially now that she's arrived in Skyrim, hunting the vampire that killed her brother.
'Beware of becoming the very thing you despise' has never been more true. Never mind falling for one...
Look at that! Vampires and other monsters, vengeance and murder - honestly I can't wait to read it, despite having no idea about Skyrim at all! 😅 It sounds so intriguing, though!!
If you’re as excited as I am, please show your love by reblogging this (go wild in the tags too!) - nothing is more motivating and encouraging for a creator than seeing their work get love and attention! So, let’s all cheer them on on their home stretch!
