BTS and Ringa Linga

The year was 2014, it was early January and JK was filming a very young and totally adorable Park Jimin while singing and giggling behind the camera. What was he singing? None other than Ringa Linga by Taeyang of Big Bang.

This seems to have been a practice run for another Bangtan Bomb performance later in the month when JK is again singing and giggling and Jimin and JHope (with short cameo from Tae) are dancing with great enthusiasm to Ringa Linga.

What I hadn't appreciated when I saw that video was how on point Jimin's dancing was when lined up with the original choreography. Just saw this edit on Twitter and had to post.

Ringa Linga was on the Taeyang album Rise. It came out in November 2013 and peaked at No. 6 in the Gaon Digital Chart.

Billboard ranked it No. 5 in their list of best K-Pop songs of the year.

It is clear that Jimin was a big fan at the time and I am sure he was really excited when the prospect of a collaboration was broached. I don't really like the whole Taeyang's 2014 style and will be interested to see how that has developed over the intervening years but what cannot be denied is they are both confident and impactful performers with amazing vocals and unmatched dance skills so I am really excited to see what they can do together.
