These summits weren’t usually Karen’s favorite place to be. It was an annual meeting of all the elites, professors, and champions to talk about various happenings in their respective regions. Sure it was nice to see familiar faces but they mingled with unfamiliar ones as well, and Karen was on different levels of comfort with so many people that overall it felt over whelming as it drove her anxiety up. After what felt like the longest meeting of her life with some of the other elites Karen broke away to get some peace and quiet.
Sitting next to Karen was her umbreon who had been feeling her emotions stir from his pokeball, and wanted to be out to comfort her as soon as he was allowed. The two had found a quiet spot on the bank of a pond. Just like everything else in the meeting area it was perfectly manicured.
“Does everything here have to be so pristinely perfect?”
She asked reaching over to pick up a rock on the path next to her. It was fairly smooth all around though not too chalky ruling out limestone. Karen turned them over a few more times in her hand trying to recall the textbook she’d been reading to try and place what kind of rock it was. It was always good to test what knowledge you actually retained when you have a knack for reading any kind of nonfiction.
After a few moments of drawing blanks Karen shrugged deciding to simply skip the thing instead. As her hand reached back to throw it another hand clasped over hers. Startled Karen balled her free hand into a fist, and swung around about to land it on the person’s face. Her instincts were overridden as recognition slipped into her glare. She was able to freeze just before hitting him.
“Steven what the fuck, I know Lance has told all the champions none of his elites appreciate being snuck up on. I almost went through with that.”
She huffed shaking her hand out of the tense fist.
