Admittedly, I’m far too young to have any recollection of Gale Sayers’ legendary football career. But every article and video I’ve ever read or watched about the guy has always described him as one of the most gentlemanly players to ever set foot on the gridiron. Billy Dee Williams portrayed him to perfection in the television film “Brian’s Song”. And he put a school with perhaps the richest of histories on the hardwood (KU) on the football map like few players before him or since. God gained an angel today.
