The managers who were interviewing looked like they liked my answers. At the end of the interview they said theyd call me for a second interview to meet with the third manager then today i received an email from costco saying i wasnt selected for hire. Could it be a mistake? Would they call me back? /////////////////////////////////////////// Question: Question on job application? Posted: 13 Oct 2015 12:50 PM PDT https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20151013125021AAiXQgu Here are my concerns: 1) The pay is low ($27,000 a year.) Keep in mind I live in Los Angeles, and have a Master's degree. 2) High Turnover Rate :5 people have quit in the past month ( 2 quit on my first day) not to mention the 7 who were entry level that quit or were fired 3) The company seems unstable. The president was basically telling me that they're no sure if they can afford the office space we have and basically told us if we don't each sign a bunch of clients we'll be fired. 4) we’re expected to work full time office hours and work events 2-3 times a week so it would be difficult to get a second job, or interview for a new position. Honestly, it not the work that scares me, it's the fact that the president started a company and failed and told me a bunch of really discouraging stuff... I just don't wanna waste my time. I’m conflicted. The job is in my field, but my concern is investing in a company that might not even be here in a few months. At the same time, I do realize that my time is worth something, and that I have to support myself financially. Since going to do the CNA program and after words apply to a hospital with some experience as a caregiver. Also what are some other job type that do not require certificates that count as health care experience. Last thing: I currently volunteer with over 200 hours of volunteer experience at a nonprofit clinic where I am the front desk interpreter in admitting patients and includes translating the medical doctor diagnoses in Spanish. Posted: 13 Oct 2015 11:38 AM PDT https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20151013113848AA179Am I am a 20 year old community college student and instead of picking a major that I hate in college just because of the job it could potentially land me in the future makes a lot of money, I would rather follow my dreams. I am currently in school right now establishing a fall back plan of some sort because my interests in life are traveling, theatre, and music. The only jobs I could come up with that involve travel would be working on a cruise ship or as a flight attendant and as far as my acting career I was thinking maybe night shift at a walmart from 12am-9am and than I would go to sleep at 5pm and get 6 hours of sleep and take 1 hour to get ready for work again to be there at 12 am. This would allow me the entire day from 9am in the morning until 5pm at night to do my acting I thought it sounded like a good idea because most of this stuff goes on during the day and it would help to have availability during the day in an acting career. During this time I could also be a bartender on Saturday and Sunday or even wait tables on those days as a side job for the extra cash. I am looking for some advice because I know that traveling costs money and I know that being an actor makes little money as well which is why I would need a weekend job. in a previous post that I made someone named Simpson G. said " So, you are going to work all night, part-time, at one of the companies that is notoriously horrible to employees, and then stay up all day? When will you sleep? Cruise ship employees typically get a half a day a week off. They aren't galavanting through the tropics. And if you get placed on an Alaskan cruise? Flight attendants don't get to see the world unless they take time off. On long haul flights, they get off the plane, go to their hotel room, get dinner, and go to bed. They are up the next morning for the return flight. If you want to travel and see the world, you find work that gives you enough money that you can pay to do it. If you want to do arts, you wait tables and audition and take classes during the day. At 20, you should be regulalrly working in your CC theatre program and in local theatre projects. You should have a local agent who is finding you work in local commercials. Good Luck " /////////////////////////////////////////// Question: Can you get a full time job at the age 17 in US? i m dropping out of high school. i don t need a diploma for what i want to do for my career? Posted: 13 Oct 2015 11:07 AM PDT https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20151013110749AA8K1Kf Job (A) is a an entry-level job that requires no real education or training, and it will be difficult to advance in this career. But given that it's at an Ivy League university in a bustling city, the cultural and social opportunities are endless - and this is attractive for me because I currently have no social life or friends in my small home town. Job (B) offers more money, more career opportunities, and more potential to move up in a stable career - however my social life will not change, as this is a promotion offered to me by the company I'm currently working for, so I wouldn't be moving or meeting anyone new. I'm 23 so establishment a career AND meeting new people are both important to me so I'm having a hard time making this decision. I wish I wasn't exaggerating when I say that the village I live in has less than 4000 residents. I grew up here. Meeting new people is extremely difficult, believe me. At the university, I'd be meeting tons of new people my age every day just by being on campus. Posted: 13 Oct 2015 10:44 AM PDT https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20151013104411AAEB9aO Recently got a job at McDonald's and I get paid $8.25 an hour. I worked for 11 days and clocked in 50 hours, so including taxes, I should have had at least $300 (most likely closer to $350) on my first check, however, I received $246. I started work on a Monday (more accurately, I started on September 28th) and for some reason Tuesday is payday, which is today. I fail to see what the issue could be considering that I started on the week everyone got paid, so clearly everyone else would get paid today, including me, meaning I should have gotten my full 2 weeks. It can't be pay for just one week, because that's too high, but I have no idea why I would lose around $100 (around 2 and half days worth of work) on my check. It can't be for uniforms because those are provided free of charge. /////////////////////////////////////////// Question: What are the pros and cons for local and overseas labor forces of Apples going global? Therefore, she reported me to the supervisor, but the supervisor told her that she understood wrong because I am the one who did the work. S felt little embarrassed therefore, she sent an old email I sent about another workmate with the name N. The email says:" N is not motivated at all toward her work, all she wants is just her salary". I didn't expect at all that S would forward the email to N. N became very angry when she read the email. She physically attacked me by throwing her shoe in addition to continuous verbal attacks. In the next day, N complained to the supervisor with tears in her eye telling her that she was heart broken by calling her not motivated. The supervisor criticized me for calling her not motivated. Then I apologized to N just to end the problem but she refused to accept the apology. I refused to report the physical and continues verbal attack I face from S and N in order not to show authorities that there are problems between us. Then I asked S and N to meet in order to discuss my work. They refused and said they are busy. And when I started presenting to the manager, S went out of the room and refused to come. This made the manager angry. When he asked her why, she lied and told him it's because I didn't ask them to meet and discuss the work. This made the manager discover that there are problem between us, and thus he didn't renew our contract for next year claiming that we cannot work in a group. /////////////////////////////////////////// Question: College internship (office) but no work experience? I applied and said that I was found eligible and referred to the hiring manager, however that was over 2 months ago. More recently when I checked USAJOBS, my status changed to "not referred". I called and mypers sent a confirmation saying that I was eligible and that USAJOBS might not have caught up with their system. She also informed me they had just looked at my package and were trying to come up with a pay range so that a "tentative selection" could be made. I've read the DoD, OPM and USAJOBS policies on the placement program, but what doesn't click to me is how long it's taking. OPM states that it should take a month, but it's been 2 months. Posted: 13 Oct 2015 07:28 AM PDT https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20151013072836AAjNNCr There is a job going with the RSPCA here in my city which stands for Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. So it is an animal attendant position. I just graduated with a degree in Biological Sciences from university where I learnt lots about animal biology, ecology, etc. I also did 20 hours volunteering in my 2013 with some native cockatoos (I live in Australia) and since February this year I have been volunteering at a wildlife shelter (8mths now). I help feed the animals, clean their enclosures, prepare milk for baby kangaroos and bottle feed them etc. The RSPCA job has requirements which I fulfil except these two made me concerned: "Be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of animal husbandry" and "Previous experience in a professional animal care position." So I have some animal husbandry experience due to volunteering but I do not have any experience in a "professional" care position. Because that means a paid position right? I am afraid I do not have the exact experience. Do you reckon I should still apply? I took a part time job (for now) until I could find full time work. The job is very simple. I proctor students taking exams. I walk around the room, make sure they aren't cheating, make sure they leave when time is up & clean the desks when they finish. Any idiot can do this job. My boss is a micromanager. First, he complained that while cleaning the desk, I spray the spray bottle too close to the desk, then it was that the chair when I pushed it in was an inch too far out from under the desk. Then it was im getting up too much to walk around the room (I was told every 10 min) but now he wants (every 15 min) oh yes, he also complained when he saw me sneeze once because it "distracts testers" He said he's concerned about my vision impairment (which he knew about when he hired me) that I may "miss" if a student cheats or that I may not always notice an empty desk as quickly as others. The job like I've said is a JOKE. He's making a very simple job into a nightmare!!!! The pay is terrible as is & I'm only doing it until I find full time work but is this worth it!? Is a $10/hr 15hr per week job worth the stress of wondering what's he going to complain about next?!? Thoughts?!? /////////////////////////////////////////// Question: Should i leave winn dixie for starbucks? Details included please read need answers? Posted: 13 Oct 2015 02:32 AM PDT https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20151013023227AAQxk0G I applied for a job, was interviewed and I sent them a thank you email the next day. They followed up with a "You will be contacted within this week. Please keep an eye out for my email." It's past a week and so I sent them "I was told that you would email me where the final interview would be held but have not been sent an email. Thank you for your time! Sincerely, Yoyo (lol let's just say)" And it's been 3 days and still haven't been answered. I didn't contact them after that since I didn't want to look annoying. They are a new bussiness that is going to open up. Did they lose interest in me or is it something else? Five stars for whoever answers I feel even slightly satisfied with! Thanks! /////////////////////////////////////////// Question: What is the official date ones-self starts a job? Posted: 13 Oct 2015 12:10 AM PDT https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20151013001019AAEV1J6 I've just been given the you need to get a job lecture again from my parents. But not a job, job, a career. A miraculous carrer that's supposed to spring out of nowhere. Even though I'm 22 and idek wtf I want to do with my life and there are no magical fairy lights leading me in any particular direction. I majored in English in College because it was the only thing I didn't hate coming out of high school, THANK YOU IB. I was a Creative Writing minor for awhile, because I dreamed of doing that. However, writing so much so often drained me of life, so I switched to Professional Business because apparently that would make me much more employable; especially if I went to get my MBA afterwards. Fast forward 2 more years, I graduated yay. And figured out that the GMAT or GRE is expensive, graduate school is expensive and I dont want business to be my life. I don't know what I want to be my life anymore. Go for your dreams, Yeah I dont have any of those besides living in an apartment with friends, which is virtually impossible at the moment. Go get a min. wage job. Why? Money? I have money and it isnt going anywhere because I dont buy anything besides gas every couple of months because I dont want anything. Just to have a job and be out of the house? Yeah ok, but thats not a long term solution, which doesnt bother me because I dont think too long term anyway, but doesnt get my parents off of my back. Oh yeah, I knew I forgot to mention something in this little rant of mine. Teaching isn't an option because I hate children and people in general for being loud and disrespectful in mass more frequently than not. Also pay is crap. /////////////////////////////////////////// Question: What am I doing wrong? Posted: 13 Oct 2015 12:10 AM PDT https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20151013001004AAzgYAJ I go to a job interview dressed professionally and looking neat. I know I m not applying at enough locations or places but I m trying to. Each time I have gone it was a group interview. The place I interviewed at is called Hollister. Their clothing style is generally beach relaxed and simple. I dress in slacks a dress shirt and black flats. Hair and makeup neat. I fully answer questions confidently. I m 21. I always arrive 30 minutes early. What am I doing wrong? The other people always come in jeans and regular clothing, like flip flops. I never get called back and when I do I get a "we hired enough". I apply for the graveyard stocking shifts. What am I doing that turns off interviewers? /////////////////////////////////////////// Question: Which of the following is a lawful insurance sales practice in CA?
