diversity win: your pen-sword is a girl
okay okay oaiyq okay so
like sword exchange. but percy loves watching annabeth wield the drakon bone sword bc she’s hot and only riptide is balanced in his hand so the exchange of swords is more so just symbolic and annabeth keeps the drakon bone sword and percy keeps riptide HOWEVER riptide is owned by both of them now so she switches from percy’s pocket to annabeth’s pocket depending on who needs her more. the drakon bone sword gets knocked out of her hand mid fight but then riptide appears in her pocket and annabeth fights with her instead.
maybe even while she’s extended into sword form so percy will be fighting with her and then she just flies across the battlefield to annabeth who is holding her hand out thor style
uhhhh nothing more to this honestly just them sharing riptide LMAO
Percabeth wedding swords… but also I’m like half sure that Riptide was confirmed to be semi sentient?? Enough that Magnus’s talking sentient sword could understand her (bc apparently Riptide is a woman) and try to flirt with her?? Idk how semi sentient sword fits in but like she did watch Annabeth grow up with Percy so I feel like there’s some fondness
Mm so I assume they did like the sword symbolic exchange except Riptide takes it personally and now Annabeth finds a pen in her pocket when in danger. Which was probably startling to Percy who always had it on him. Magical pen of never losing and then bam it’s now with your wife. Which like wow what a symbol of your love but damn save some dramatics for the rest of us
Annabeth is just basking in the wonderful creation of hidden weapons in easily carriable forms nevermind the fact she doesn’t even have to keep track of it. (I hc that the Athena and Ares cabins are so jealous of Riptide simply bc how useful it is) Plus she now has bragging rights over her siblings and that’s the most important part
Other than that I imagine that Riptide doesn’t automatically switches forms when transferring to the other. Which is fine like 95% when it’s a pen but the 5% where they’re both fighting… at least they don’t have to uncap it? But Thor style is also really cool…mmm I can’t decide if I want comedy or coolness. Either way I feel like both of them with fiddle with it in pen form which leads to awkward redirection when it disappears out of nowhere. It could also be a warning on whether the other is in danger too. Which would cause a lot of panic when they expect the pen only to find it gone
Anyway on the cuter side, they could attach little stick notes on Riptide and it takes them along. Until Riptide gets tired of their crap lmao. Mmm it’s Zoe’s immortality too… Percabeth getting a shared dream where the ghost of Zoe is like “you damn lovebirds, I’m getting pings of tiredness from Riptide with all its teleporting! How tf you make a magical sword tired??”
This could also lead to funny interactions with Magnus and Sunbreaker (or at least I think that’s the name??) Like they meet up and get ambushed by monsters only for Riptide to disappear bc Sunbreaker kept flirting (Percy is like 3 seconds away or she would never)
“Magnus if I die because of your whore of a sword I’m coming back to haunt you”
“I can’t control what it says!?”
Consider: Percy Jackson but Zoe's 'Immortal Spirit' or whatever she used to make riptide; Haunts Riptide (and now Percy) like a stand.
Not the Personified Weapons
So like, in Magnus Chase and the gods of Asgard, all weapons, according to Jack, have internal monologues, or consciousness, or something, Right?
Does this mean that all the other demigods’ weapons have personalities and internal monologues?
And you know how some people have drawn Riptide and Jack as humans?
DOES THIS MEAN I CAN DRAW THE OTHER (specific) WEAPONS THE DEMIGODS HAVE AS PEOPLE TOO!!
You know, a weird PJO thing we never talk about as a fandom? Riptide and pens
Like, putting aside the fact we have no idea how it got from hercules to Popo or chiron, it being a pen just implies so many weird things about Zoe. Like, Was it always a pen? Did Zoe then invent the first pen and mortals copied her? If it's not always a pen, how does it change settings? Is it just that it turns into the most innocuous thing for a hero to carry, so maybe Herc had like a bracelet or smth? maybe a dagger? or maybe it's like always a writing implement so Herc had a Quill, then it was a pencil?
and don't just say it's a mist illusion hiding the sword, it physically fits in Percy's pocket and writes in actual ink
(also, random thought that just popped into my head, Maybe Riptide is a left handed sword and Percy is left handed? Is that a thing? because no other sword felt right to Percy and it;s not like Herc and Percy share a dad so it's not exclusive to any one demigod species)
Rick / Jacktide / Summartide (Jack x Riptide)
I love this ship / OTP
I like this ship
I feel neutral towards this ship
I dislike this ship
I very much dislike this ship / nOTP
"The pen is mightier than the sword"
Percy with Riptide: I AM A (demi) GOD!!!!!
Yeah, childproofed, cause Annabeth didn't get a knife at age 6/7 because she was fighting for her life. Luke didn't run away at 9 because monsters kept coming. Percy didn't have to kill a snake as a toddler because even that young he was monster bait.
Childproofed- when their lives are in danger from birth there's no such thing as childproofed weapons.
