17-18 May, '68: Cream plays at the Convention Center in Anaheim, California. It may have been the only time 'As You Said', on which Jack plays acoustic guitar, was performed live.

"I wanted Eric to play guitar on that track, but he encouraged me to do it. I was always embarrassed by my acoustic guitar playing - especially having Eric Clapton in the band. But [folk singer] Ritchie Havens showed me this great open tuning, and I wanted that sound on the track"

Richie Havens (1941-2013) caught mid-performance. I would not normally put up pictures of musicians with their instruments but I met him in Downpatrick when he played a local blues and folk festival in 2008. I was taken aback by how recognisable he was, even decades after he was in the international spotlight as an artist, he wanted directions for the local holy site, The Mound Of Down. I gave him them.
