Zuko: You took advice from my dad?

Katara: It's called hitting rock bottom, Zuko.

Hakoda: I'm sorry I judged you.

Ozai: I didn't realize you judged me.

Hakoda: It was all in my inner monologue.

Ozai: ...Good to know.

Jee: Is everything all right?

Lu Ten: Yes. No. Why?

Jee: Well, you’re on the floor arguing with yourself.

Sokka: Hey Aang, do you think I can get this egg in that jar without it cracking?

Aang: No.

Sokka: [throws an egg at Zuko]

Sokka: I guess you were right.

Ozai, in the other room: Why do I hear screaming?

Azula: What is this feeling I am feeling right now?

Azula: It’s like I am sad… for another person.

Azula: Is that a thing? Am I going crazy?

Ozai: As far as plans go, this was not a good one.

Ursa: This was your plan!

Ozai: I didn’t think you’d actually say yes!

Snippet of the next chapter (which I will hopefully get back to once I’ve my February exchanges finished up haha):

He knows Kevin is a heartbreak waiting to happen. He knows this is a slowburn self harm, but he has decided to sacrifice himself to it anyway. There can be no love without grief, after all. Someone always has to leave first. There is no avoiding that. Is it better to go in knowing they have a deadline? Will he be able to brace himself if the pain is not a surprise? Aaron tells himself he will. That it will hurt less than Katelyn did, because that was a shock, that was a loss he was not prepared for. He knows this will end and therefore he can cherish his time with Kevin while he has it.

This is not really a comforting thought, and Aaron thinks again how it would have been different with Fionn. They would be able to spend so much more time together. Their careers are in the same field; shared interests and understanding. Not the exact same culture, but more overlap than he has with Kevin. They could text or call during their absences. There would not be these stretches of silence like there is with Kevin, where Aaron does not even know how he is doing. Nicky clearly adores Fionn. It would have been so much easier. So much simpler. Aaron wishes he could have picked the easy route for once in his fucking life.

But no. All he could see was Kevin’s devastated expression when Aaron pulled away from him. Kevin miserable with rejection in the rain. Kevin with no one else in the world but Aaron. Fionn will be fine. Fionn will find someone else easily, and perhaps he wouldn’t have wanted Aaron, really, once he got to know him better. No one ever does. Aaron was grown from poisoned soil and there is a rot inside of him that people can scent on him if he lets his walls down enough, but not Kevin. Aaron feels like he can relax with Kevin. Like he can be more of himself, and Kevin does not pull away. Kevin is not disgusted.

Aaron thinks he perhaps was not meant to be human.

I haven't been into LS lately, but I'm still sad to see it go (even though it's been going downhill for a while).

If the LS app gets taken down, I'll probably abandon RitD just bc trying to do a canon re-write without easy access to canon sounds like a headache

Alternatively, I'll switch from doing a full re-write and just write shorts/one-shots in that universe? 🤷🏻‍♂️
