Erestor is the son of Herlúlë and Vanimmírë. He grew up as a son of the House of Lúlë, a highly esteemed noble house of Tirion. As an elfling, Erestor had a very strict and expensive upbringing, and was tutored only by the most accomplished teachers that Valinor had to offer. Rather than play outside, his parents kept him inside and had him study. Young Erestor, however, didn’t mind it one bit. He loved to learn and to read, and even if given the choice between playing and studying, he would choose to study.
Erestor was still considered young when Feanor rebelled and the Noldor left to Beleriand. Both of his parents stayed in Valinor, shunning their son for his actions (unbeknownst to him). He took part in the first Kinslaying under the belief that the Teleri attacked first, and it is his biggest regret in his later life once he learns that they were innocent. He crossed the Helcaraxë with the rest of Fingolfin’s host and eventually lives in Vinyamar under Turgon’s rule. While he was there he served primarily as a scribe. Later he goes to Gondolin and is a member of the House of the Harp. He serves as Salgant’s scribe until the city’s fall & then lives amongst other refugees for the rest of the age. For a while he lives with guilt as he had no knowledge or suspicion about Salgant’s treachery, despite his reputation for being perceptive. For a while, whispers even followed Erestor that he was aware of his lord’s treachery, and therefore was just as complicit.
In the Second Age, Erestor lived in Lindon as head librarian and spymaster. He was intelligent, quick-witted, loyal, and sharp-tongued, awhich eventually made him one of the most respected elves in Lindon. Since he was spymaster, he was often sent on reconnaissance throughout the different areas of Middle Earth for Gil-Galad. This work also brought him into the High King’s council. During his time in Lindon, Erestor became good friends with Elrond, Cirdan, and Gil-Galad. Even with them, however, he was still quite professional and reserved, save perhaps Elrond in later years. He was primarily a strategist for the Last Alliance, and on occasion took a few spying missions. One the last of these, he was captured and taken prisoner for nearly two months. Mordor fell but a handful of years later, but Erestor was forever changed by the war.
After Sauron’s defeat & the beginning of the Third Age, Erestor officially left Lindon and moved on to Imladris to serve Elrond in whichever way he was needed. After the construction of the main home was finished and the city began to settle in, he was appointed to Chief Counsellor. By these years Erestor was made bitter; he’d lost too many people and seen too many wars, and it caused him to become shut off and distant. There are few he is close to, Elrond of course being one; Celebrian, the twins and Arwen, and Lindir. He “begrudgingly” admits that he is fond of Estel as well. He is very close to Elrond’s family, and he often sees them as his own family, and vice-versa. He tutored all of the children when they were younger. And though he’d never admit it of course, he ‘secretly’ pines over Glorfindel.
Erestor is of course, extremely intelligent. Despite how cold and cranky he can be, he is deeply respected and valued not only in Imladris, but throughout the Elven realms, and all agree that the Last Homely House could collapse without him. He usually dresses in simple blacks, browns, and navy blues. His robes are usually quite plain, having abandoned opulent things after the end of the Second Age. Erestor is also considered quite fair, even for an Elf, most likely due to his pure Noldo lineage. Quite a few elves and even some Men have attempted to gain his affections; but people learned quickly that he is, apparently, more than uninterested in romantic relations.

I don’t have any triggers but I do not like graphic gore, as in graphic slasher-film level stuff. im also not fond of talks about Armageddon/apocalypse/global disaster scenarios but it’s not a trigger. just makes me really uncomfy y’know
I prefer not to go straight into relationships, specifically romantically - but sometimes even platonically. I like relationships to develop naturally over time, especially if they’re two muses that don’t otherwise interact in canon. i also don’t like ships being forced (I’ll never force a ship on you), but I’m totally okay with unrequited relationships!
