Rittenhouse trial judge still baffled by pinch-to-zoom

Prosecutors think he might be using his phone wrong

The judge took out his own phone, a Samsung 20, and showed how if you zoom in on a screenshot, a compressed image, that it gets blurry (which would actually prove the point that no digital alterations occurred) but the prosecutor was talking about PHOTOS and VIDEOS taken by an iPad and even then when zooming in on either there's no data added to any file. The prosecutor told the judge, "I think you're taking the picture wrong on your phone. I'm not tech support, but-" to which the judge interrupted to say, "I'm not surprised." prompting laughter at the double homicide and attempted homicide trial.

The headline you will see is “Rittenhouse breaks down in tears while testifying.”

That does not capture what happened here. This isn’t someone who gets choked up. This isn’t a single tear rolling down a cheek. This isn’t an act for the jury.

This is the most authentic thing we have seen in this trial. This is a kid, 18 years old, recounting the most traumatic event of his life on live television. He is likely having a panic attack.

Thoughts on Rittenhouse

I haven’t meant to keep up with the events and with the trial, but here we are. This is my perspective, which I’d be down to talk, especially with anyone who has a different thoughts. I’m ready to explore. 1. No one should have been at Kenosha. Not Rittenhouse, not anyone fixing to burn the place to the ground. 2. Because the intent to tear the town up was clear, and the pattern of the people folks usually expect to protect their town from destruction sitting by was already established, someone showing up to defend their home/place of work was inevitable.

3. Carrying a firearm in a dangerous situation seems wise.

4. Firing a weapon at someone who is chasing you, especially if that someone is older than you, has verbally communicated that he would like to kill you, or is also armed or otherwise attacking you, seems awful, but justified.

My main questions about the situation are these:

1. Why does tearing down local neighborhoods seem to be the norm for these riots? If the issue is the police, wouldn’t it make more sense to tear down the police station?

2. Why are people upset that other people do not want their towns destroyed? I’m actually surprised people haven’t been seen defending their towns en masse, armed to the teeth. Not firing away or anything, but just being there as a community, protecting their shops/buildings/etc. If anyone wants to shed light on these, I’d definitely appreciate it.
