pls explain the “and then fucking Pickle” post i desperately want to know

how do i explain this in the least bizarre way possible...

in uh charles & i’s newmann canon, they have multiple cats named after famous scientists, mathematicians, and interdisciplinary people,,, and then they have a pitbull named Pickle who, quite obviously, was named by newt when they started fostering him (he was running out of smart people names) and then just never changed the name once they adopted him
