The "could they work a retail job" thing is killing me because like. I have had this idea for a story cooking in my head for at least 2 years now. About a woman who has ended up in River Falls, was brainwashed, seemingly is condemned to spend the rest of her life there... Only for her friends from her old life to track her down and successfully rescue her. They take her to a secluded ranch they bought in another state, hide their trail as best as they can, go completely off the grid, all to ensure that her husband and the cops and whoever else can't track her down and get her back.
And the bulk of the story is them just. Doing everything they can to deprogram her. Trying to help her become her old self again. Some of them shocked and upset that it's taking so long, others worried she'll never really become the person they once knew. She tried to escape multiple times to go back to River Falls, just because she knows she would get in trouble for leaving, even though it wasn't her choice. Eventually getting better, very very very slowly, but never ending up as the person she used to be. Not really able to so much as hold down a job because what was done to her is just. Too much. But still finding A new self, even if it isn't the person they all knew her as, and having them to protect her and support her throughout the process.
Magical Wander around River Falls
Day...
Today was a bit of a day, and I would say it culminated in this lovely encounter with myself in River Falls Wisconsin. I have noticed myself gravitated toward that eastern abyss across the murky and icy waters of the St. Croix... If one actually ventures into this misty and mysterious land you will find some very comforting items and things to notice. I particularly have taken to the horizontal stoplights, and the little freeway that goes from Hudson to RF. The thrift stores there are also excellent, and one of them let me have a bunch of stuff for free!! I am so excited to do some projects with those items (dont hold your breath!!). Other than that I kinda rotted out my eyes looking and applying for jobs today, I think it is so rotten the way that I look at these screens, and I can feel the weight of my eyes and of my mind, and it just hurts. But I also get to write these things so alas...
I've been missing my friend isa and we were supposed to go get a milkshake at Chick fil A but it never worked out so I just went by myself today, and kinda enjoyed that moment??
Overall tired but good day, makin me feel a bit empty but also trying not to but in a good way ya know.
