The shopping district was lively, filled with the companionable chatter of friends and family. There was a certain warmth in the air although none of it seemed to affect Chrom as he held his scarf closer, partly to hide his face but also to try and ward off a chill that seemed to linger in his bones.

Barely a month since he left his home country to study here...

Although he put up a brave face, Chrom missed his sisters terribly. Lissa’s laugh and Emmeryn’s gentle words can make him forget his most serious problems. But now he was alone with nothing to do but study and worry about how everyone else was doing back home.

The glimmer of several polished trinkets catches his attention. A roadside stall stood across the street, delicate pieces of jewelry like bracelets and necklaces adorning its table. The proprietor looked... rather young to be selling such expensive wares but the idea of buying something for his sisters was enough to get Chrom interested.

“Did you make all these yourself?”

Neo had done a lot of bad shit in her time. Nine times out of ten, she got away with it. This time, she had hoped it would turn out the same way. But the second she tried to swipe from one of the carts in the square, she knew this wasn’t going to go the way she had planned. 

Maybe it was her own fault. Actually, no. The owner of the jewelry cart across the way was far too attractive for her not to keep walking past. But she could only keep that up for so long, and Neo didn’t like to be obvious. So maybe, somewhere subconsciously, she wanted to get caught. At least then there would be some attention on her. And after all, a little stealing wasn’t going to exactly taint her record. 

The stall’s owner was ready to let her go off on her own, but Neo had to cause a scene. It started with her yelling back at the man, threatening violence, and then she finally suckerpunched the guy until he was flat on his back. It was only a matter of time until strong arms were trying to pull her back that she stopped struggling so much - yet not enough to where she wasn’t going to be thrown in the back of a cop car. 

It was when she was bent forward, cheek pressed to the back of a car that she met eye contact with the cute boy at the jewelry stand. With a quick wink, she let the world begin to take it’s course.

‘If the price was right he will accept any job’ was what most of the people were talking about when she first heard about him. Someone who would probably be able to help her out with a certain kind of problem-- and yes, it actually was that kind of problem that dealt with retrieving a rare herb she’d actually never heard of before. But if she believed the rumors to be true it indeed would be a more than long and harsh trip to get there all on her own.
