character: hate them | don’t really care | like them | LOVE them | THEY ARE MY PRECIOUS
ship with: Levi (obviously. Haha)
friendship them with: I really enjoy the idea that Petra and Hanji are good friends because of Hanji’s friendship with Levi. Petra would see being friends with Hanji as something wonderful, but she would also see it as a way to spend more time with Levi, so it’s really just a win/win for her. Other than that, I think it would be really cute if she were good friends with Eld, kind of like in a big brother/little sister kind of way because I just see Eld as the big brother type.
general opinions: I’ve always seen Petra as kind of motherly. She seems like she would enjoy taking care of other people and spending time with her squad mates, who she’s always seen as family. I also see Petra as totally fierce. She can hold her own outside of the walls, and I’ve always kind of had the headcanon that Levi secretly finds that trait very attractive. In summation, Petra is a super loving and relatable bad ass and she deserved better.
for @rivetraaa ♡ thank you again for the beautiful moodboard aesthetic. looking at it always makes me so happy ^^
My Favorite Kouhai/My Beloved Younger Brother
Levi Ackerman. Zeke Jaeger. Rivetra. Shoujo Manga AU.

Buy me a ko-fi!
Levi knows exactly where he’s going. The name just escapes him is all. It’s a sweet shop of some sort that specializes in French pastries. It’s all Petra has been talking about for the past week, and yet he can’t seem to recall what the name of the shop is. Maybe because it’s in French? Although if it were Japanese, he doubts he’d remember it either. The names all sounded the same to him anyway - something cutesy and clever and had the word “sugar” or “sweet” in it. He could try searching it up on his phone to narrow down the shops, but he’s sure he’d be left with far too many options to explore. Of course, the easiest way is to just text Petra and ask her himself - he could kill two birds with one stone and ask her if she wants to grab a slice of cake there too - but he knows he’ll only get scolded for not listening to her. There must be a way for him to recall the name without having to ask her, Levi thinks.
He stops at the school gate and rests against one of the stone pillars, frowning as he watches his schoolmates leave campus. He wonders if any of them are planning on visiting the new cake shop that Petra had been talking about. Such places are pretty popular for couples, but Levi thinks it would be odd to approach a random couple just to ask. He makes the mistake of looking over at two second-years holding hands, who freeze at the sight of Levi’s perpetual frown before hurriedly walking past him. Asking random people is definitely out of the question, Levi thinks with a deepening frown. He doesn’t notice that his disgruntled expression is making people steer clear of him even more, although it’s not as if he’d care if he did. He has far more important things to think about.
There are other people Levi could ask, but he finds reasons why he shouldn’t. The first person that comes to mind is Hanji, but he knows that they’d constantly tease him about this until graduation, possibly longer. It’s really not worth it, he decides. There’s Mike, another one of Levi’s friends, but he’s not sure that Mike’s well acquainted enough with Petra that she’d share her afterschool plans with him. The most sensible thing would be to ask Petra’s friends - Eld, Gunther, and Auruo - but Levi would run into a similar problem. If he were to ask any of them about Petra, he'd be sure to arouse their suspicion. Levi looks down at his phone, pressing the button and watching the screen flicker on and off. Maybe he should just call her. Even if she does end up scolding him, it’ll probably only last for a few minutes. He could buy her an extra cake to make up for it. He might have to save up more money for the next time they go out though, Levi thinks, wondering exactly how much money he has left in his wallet.
“Levi!” a voice calls.
Levi turns his head to see Eren, a first-year Levi’s seen at sports games when he was subbing for players, walking towards him with a large grin on his face. He recalls the underclassman passionately rooting for the school team and, after the game, Eren hunting him down to ask him how exactly he had gotten so good at sports and so many of them all at once. Levi, not being one to talk to people that he didn’t know well, always brushed him off. He’s about to do the same to Eren right now until he remembers something incredibly important.
“Hey, kid,” Levi says. He pockets his phone and walks towards Eren. Even though he’s two years older, he still has to lift his head to look Eren in the face since the damn kid is a few inches taller than him. He stands with his back straight and his shoulders square as if this will make up for his height or lack thereof, but it’s not as if Eren cares. He’s just ecstatic that one of the school’s top sports stars - the most elusive school sports star - is talking to him. “Eren, right? You’re Eren Jaeger.”
“You remember!” If the kid had a tail, he’d be wagging it. He runs a hand through his hair, ruffling his already messy brown locks, and looks around as if he can’t quite believe that he’s speaking with Levi. “I mean, it’s not as if we speak to each other really often, and I know you’re probably super busy with studying for university exams too.”
Ah, he forgot how much this kid talked. Levi looks down discreetly at his watch. He doesn’t have time to butter this kid up, so he might as well just outright ask for what he wants. He’d look for an opening in the conversation to talk and somehow segue into asking about Petra, but he’s fairly certain that opportunity will never come. In the middle of Eren’s spiel about an upcoming judo tournament he’s prepping for, Levi asks, “Hey, Petra tutors you in the library sometimes, right? Math?”
“Huh?” Eren says, surprised. He doesn’t seem at all offended by the interruption, but he does seem confused. “Er, yeah. Sometimes I ask Hanji for help, but I think Petra’s more helpful so I usually go to her.”
“That’s great,” Levi says impatiently. Jeez, this kid talks a lot. He glances at Eren, who’s looking at him with a furrowed brow, and he remembers that he should at least have the decency to be polite. Levi clears his throat, composing himself, and asks, “Did you happen to talk with her today?”
“Oh yeah,” Eren says, nodding his head. He bounces on the balls of his feet lightly as he tries to recall his conversation. “She helped me with my pre-calculus homework today. Trigonometry is always really confusing to me. And all of those sine, cosine, tangent things? I never know when to use which one.”
Levi tries not to lose his temper as Eren laughs. After forcing a chuckle out, Levi continues to prod the underclassman. “I was wondering if you talked about anything else,” he says, keeping his tone light and casual so as not to appear suspicious. “Maybe like what you guys were doing after school.”
“After school?” Eren repeats. He looks up, a thoughtful expression on his face as he tries to remember. It takes all of Levi’s willpower not to strangle him. Eventually, Eren says, “Well, I told her I was going to head home and play some video games with Armin and Jean. I think she told me she was going to visit a shop that opened up recently.”
“What shop?” Levi presses.
“A … cake shop? Some sort of bakery,” Eren says, scratching the back of his neck. “I don’t remember the name, but she was pretty excited to go.”
If Eren can’t remember, then Levi’s been having this stupid conversation with him for nothing. He probably should have scoped out cake shops by himself. Still, maybe he can help the kid remember if he feeds him hints. “Do you remember what kind of cake shop?” Levi asks. He tries to keep his tone easy, but he’s finding it increasingly difficult the longer this conversation goes on. He’s sure that the smile he has on looks more like a snarl at this point. “Japanese? Italian? French? Maybe the name’s in French?”
“Maybe,” Eren murmurs. It’s as if he’s purposely trying to annoy Levi by recalling details as slowly as possible. “I think the name was in French. She was telling me what it meant. Something about sweet, like chocolate or sugar. Strawberries? I don’t think it was a fruit though …”
Levi’s not sure how helpful this is. This is pretty much all the information he had before he had asked Eren for help. He’s contemplating leaving Eren and just try to find French cake shops nearby with the word “sweet” in it. It might be easier, and it would definitely be less aggravating, but it seems as though Eren is right on the cusp of remembering.
“Sweet, sweet, sweet,” Eren mumbles. “Sugar? I’m sure it’s either sugar or chocolate. I don’t really remember the last word though.”
Levi’s so focused on Eren and Eren is so focused on remembering that neither of them notices when a third person joins them, throwing an arm around Eren’s shoulders and looking down at Levi with a sly grin.
“Zeke!” Eren says, looking up at surprise at his older brother.
“Zeke,” Levi growls, noticeably less excited than Eren.
“Eren, Levi,” Zeke says with a nod. He gives Levi what outsides would see as a civil smile, but Levi knows the bastard’s looking down at him. “What are you two doing here?”
“Oh, I’m just telling Levi about this shop that Petra-!” The first-year stops mid-sentence and yelps. He clutches his foot and looks over at Levi, a wounded expression on his face.
“My foot slipped,” Levi says, but he doesn’t seem very apologetic. He looks over at Zeke, hoping that he hasn’t heard, but he can see from the lopsided smile on Zeke’s face that he’s already heard enough. Levi tries to turn Eren away from Zeke, but the older brother has a firm grasp on his sibling.
“A cake shop? Petra likes those, doesn’t she?” Zeke’s smile looks more and more sinister with every word he says. If Levi could, he’d hit him just to get that stupid grin off that bastard’s face, but Petra disapproves of fighting and he doesn’t want to face suspension for fighting again. “You said the name of it was in French, Eren? Maybe you could tell me one of the words and I can help you figure out the other one.”
Levi puts his hand on Eren’s shoulder and pulls the boy towards him, glaring at Zeke. “Eren was just telling me, so you can be on your way,” he tells Zeke. He’s not a fool, and he knows exactly what Zeke’s up to. The last thing he wants is for Zeke to get the name of the cake shop and beat him to a date with Petra. “I’m sure you’re busy.”
Zeke grabs Eren’s arm and pulls his brother towards him. “Nonsense,” Zeke replies. “I’m not busy at all. Even if I were, I’d still take a minute to help my dear brother with something as simple as recalling the name of a sweet shop.”
“We don’t need your help,” Levi says, yanking Eren back. He turns Eren to look at him, keeping his voice low as he speaks. “Eren, just tell me the name of the damn bakery!”
“I … I don’t remember,” Eren stammers. He looks nervously back at Zeke, but Levi tugs him away again. He’s too dense to understand the rivalry between the two or the importance of knowing the name of the cake shop, and neither Zeke nor Levi is willing to tell him. All he can do is look helplessly back and forth at the two third-years. “I really don’t remember the name of the shop!”
Zeke pulls his brother back towards him and smiles kindly down at Eren. “My beloved younger brother,” he says. His sickeningly sweet voice makes Levi want to vomit. “Won’t you tell your aniki the name of the cake shop?”
Eren is about to open his mouth and reply, but Levi yanks him back.
“Eren,” Levi says as Eren turns to him in surprise. If he wants the name of the cake shop, he has to work quickly. “I never told you this, but you’re my favorite kouhai. In fact, you’re like … you’re like a younger brother to me.” He’s going to regret these words later, he knows, but he can worry about that later.
“Really? I am?” Eren says, eyes widening.
Zeke turns Eren around and shakes him by the shoulders. “But I’m your real brother, Eren, remember?” he asks. Levi can tell by the way Zeke is gritting his teeth that it’s taking every ounce of the older brother’s willpower not to yell. “Do you remember a part of the name? Even just one word would be enough.”
Eren opens his mouth again, but Levi pulls him away just as he’s about to reply.
“If you’re going to say the name, then you should say it to me,” Levi says. No longer bothering with pleasantries, Levi glares at the poor first-year and growls, “I asked you first, remember?”
“It’s not as if it matters,” Zeke says. “It’s fine if he tells the both of us. Isn’t that right, Eren?”
The two third-years pull the boy back and forth as if playing a game of tug-of-war. They’re so immersed in this game that they don’t realize they’re using far more strength than necessary, and Eren yelps in pain.
“Hey!” a voice calls from behind the three. “What do you two think you’re doing?”
Slowly, Zeke and Levi both turn to see who’s behind them, but they can already tell who it is from the voice. They can hardly look at her and, after hastily glancing at her with guilty expressions on their faces, they let go of their poor victim. It is only Eren that is relieved to see Petra, and the boy hastily scrambles over to the second-year girl, wrapping his arms around his savior’s waist in gratitude.
“Petra! I’m so happy to see you!” Eren says.
“Oi, don’t you think you’re a bit close?” Levi asks, trying not to glower at the kid. When Petra glares at him, he looks away.
“Were these two bullying you, Eren?” Petra asks, patting Eren’s head comfortingly. Zeke and Levi try to open their mouths and protest, but she silences them with a single look. She turns back to Eren and says, “You poor thing! I can’t believe these two would treat you so terribly!”
“Well, it wasn’t that bad,” Eren says, glancing over at Levi and Zeke. He must feel bad that they’re being scolded so harshly. “And I’m alright now.”
“Nonsense,” Petra says, waving away his words with a hand. She links her arm with Eren’s and looks up affectionately at her underclassman. “You should let me know if they bully you, Eren. It’s terrible to have upperclassmen - especially third-years like Zeke and Levi - mistreating first-years!” She turns away from the other two, leading Eren along with her. “Let me treat you to some cakes to make up for it. There’s that cake shop I was telling you about earlier. Want to come with me? I bet they have a lot of delicious sweets!”
Although he knows better, Levi begins to follow Petra and Eren. “Hey, Petra, it wasn’t like that!”
“We’d never bully, Eren!” Zeke agrees, following behind Levi.
Petra stops, shooting a deadly glare at both of them. “Don’t follow us.” She turns back to Eren, all smiles now. “You said you liked chocolate cakes, right? Let’s try two of them. We can share!”
The two rivals can only watch from afar as Petra and Eren walk away to enjoy freshly baked pastries without them. It’s only when Petra is out of earshot that they dare speak again.
“We could follow them anyway,” Zeke suggests.
Levi shakes his head. “She’s already mad enough as it is.”
“You’re right,” Zeke mumbles. He thinks for a moment and then turns to Levi again. “What if we meet them at the shop?”
“That would be a good idea,” Levi says, “but we still don’t know the name of it.”
For the headcanon ask meme the shoujo manga Au about Levi, Zeke and Petra please?
ah i really like that au, so thank you for asking for hcs about it >///<
petra actually doesn’t make a bento for levi a lot b/c he normally makes his own early in the morning. he’s very simple about it though - protein, veggies, rice - and then he packs an apple or an orange so he gets his daily serving of fruit. petra is a lot more elegant with her bento so that it looks pretty. zeke is crazy good at making bento. it’s partly b/c he wants to impress his younger half-brother eren (eren doesn’t notice very much though he kind of just chows down)
zeke fell in love w/ petra first after watching her tutor some kids for math for a club event. levi fell in love w/ petra more slowly. when hanji first convinced petra to eat lunch w/ the rest of their gang of third year friends levi saw her and thought “she’s cute”
levi wants to go into coding so he can make a lot of money w/o interacting w/ too many ppl. he’s not super studious, but he starts getting his shit together during his third year b/c he doesn’t want to fail the university exams and disappoint his mother. although zeke is incredibly smart and ppl think he’ll go into engineering or another STEM field, he’s thinking about business management. petra is still in her 2nd year but she’s leaning towards a career in academia
petra’s father is well aware of his daughter’s feelings but he actually likes zeke better lol. zeke is a lot more charismatic than levi and he also enjoys the sweets from mr ral’s bakery. (levi doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth to begin with). he tries not to show his bias though
during the school festival petra’s class put on a maid/butler cafe and levi and zeke ended up competing in an unofficial eating competition. petra just thought it was b/c they were craving sweets haha
i love bts’ airplane pt 2 that song just feels so sexy to me but i also adore this cover of without you from the farewell (2019) soundtrack. the film made me cry so hard i was sobbing from the opening scene w/ the main character talking to her grandma until i left the theater lol

In the Rivetra Gang Au, the part where Petra first meets Levi ! :)
that makes me very happy >///< it makes me feel as if i have properly captured the atmosphere for that time period! that seems to be the hardest part when i am writing period pieces, but also my favorite part. it means a lot more to me since gang au is one of my favorites!! ^^
