After having seen the Season 5 finale, my conviction that Red John is either Walter Mashburn or Alex Jane has just been strengthened.

I can connect almost all the clues back to Mashburn and he wasn't on Jane's list...I find that really odd. And though he may be quite an obvious suspect (which are usually the suspects I scrap right away) I just can't shake him. He just fits really well into what we've learned of RJ in my opinion.

As for Jane's Dad, I think RJ making Jane take a trip down memory lane is a big deal. RJ knew a lot about Jane's childhood and targeted it. I've had Jane's Dad on the top of my suspect list with Mashburn since we met him in the flashback episode! I will admit, with the recent comment about them not becoming friends after shaking hands, the theory kinda wares thin so it has become more of a wish than a concrete theory, but I just think that, with RJ lashing out at Jane more personally than others and from what we learned of Jane's Dad, I think it would make for a great revelation! 

Update: May be a tad wrong then, since Heller has stated that RJ is one of the seven suspects on Jane's list. Haha! I hadn't realised he'd said this (I've been trying to keep away from spoilers) so I guess this is just my wish list then. Oh well...I'll keep my finger crossed. Lol
