Secondhand clothing have a lot of benefits to the environment and encourages and develops a recycling mindset. While Dongdaemun Design Plaza will hold the world-renowned Seoul Fashion Week with the presence of the hottest celebrities and extravagant outfits that will inspire the upcoming seasons, those looking for budget shopping and interested in sustainable or vintage fashion can get away of the craziness, travel to Seodaemun-gu and still grab some nice designs for Spring.

For those interested, it was announced online and quickly spread through SNS that an independent pop-up flea market will happen on the weekend of 22nd and 23rd of March in the surroundings of Ewha Woman’s University and everyone is invited to join. The organizers will set large tents for the event from 10 am to 10 pm on both days. People can participate by selling clothes they no longer use/want but are still in perfect conditions, purchase a vast selection of items and possibly find great bargains on clothes, shoes, bags and accessories in general or even just stop by for a change of air after walking around Seodaemun’s fashion street as the youthful area offers different cafés, busking and cute stores.

* Idols are instructed to not attend this kind of event as they can not ensure their safety and comfort.

getting thrifty

march is a busy month. even busier now that they’re cutting down to the wire with her debut ( and and﹡roma’s comeback ) just weeks away, everything feels so final. it’s a wonder why she was here at the flea market when she should have been practicing. with the rest of the unnies busy at fashion week today, the decision to not be moping around the dorm probably wasn’t her wisest one this week. she should be practicing their choreography until her knees hurt but instead, she had dragged seulgi along with her to her old thrift shop under the guise of a ‘change of scenery’  -- juhee had promised to be friendlier and she didn’t think the idea of leaving seulgi alone in the dorm sounded fun, at all, so -- here they were.

loading clothes upon clothes into boxes that would be brought to the flea market that weekend. it wasn’t anything exciting, if anything it was free labor at the behest of her old boss, but he did promise them snacks and something to do and if anything, that was all that juhee needed to get her butt moving and pulling seulgi along the streets of hongdae to get to the shop.

“ sorry i brought you here so last minute but it beats being bored at the dorm, right? ” it wasn’t like anyone would know who they were anyway as if showing their faces around the area would garner any real crowd  ;  at least for juhee’s sake, if anything people would probably notice seulgi before they noticed juhee.

wear to tear

it wasn’t everyday that jaemin went out of his way to buy something for hisself. if anything, he was fine with wearing the clothes he had stored up in his duffle until they were more tear than wear. but he had had enough of his aunt whining on and on that he was started to look more of a bum with each passing day. so, to lessen her worries  –  here he was, quite fortunate for the turn of events that the moment he was going to be shopping around for clothes, that a flea market had turned up on his doorstep ; quite literally.

he supposed casually-looking wouldn’t do him very good ; which was why he had brought on the big guns, in hope that having a friend with him would keep him concentrated on his goal for new clothes. if anything, if nothing worked out  –  he and chanyeol could fuck off and grab some snacks instead. no matter, it’d still be a win / win scenario. “ eh – i feel like none of these are really me, dude. like …. do you think i could wear this? ” he asks, hoisting a colorful hawaiian shirt against his lean frame, glancing from the button down to his friend.

there’s an overabundance of caution that hangs over them, a leftover vigilance from those articles that had come out months ago, compounded with the bitterness that’s still left over from what happened with his friend. he feels bad about it, of course he does, because she deserves better than the nervousness that’s coursing through him at the moment. it’s the reason he’d been more than willing to spend a quiet evening at the apartment on valentine’s day rather than his usual extravagant events. but he supposes no one can really call them out for anything, he thinks; there are loads of people at the event, and there’s nothing wrong with a boy and a girl going to check out the pop up flea market, plus neither of them are exactly public figures yet, despite jisoo being in her drama and chanyeol being one of the new emcees for the spop channel.

still, despite his apprehensions, it’s refreshing to be out in the open, even if this isn’t exactly his scene. he’s always taken a rather lax approach with fashion, preferring comfort over style every time, but he did try at least a little for jisoo---at least, it’s an upgrade from a hoodie and slides (he still feels apologetic toward heejin about that).

he doesn’t really have any intention on buying anything, happy to just spend time with jisoo away from walled buildings and out in the open air, but he does keep an eye on her, watching what she picks up, trying to decipher her expressions, seeing if she takes a particular interest in anything before setting it down. before long, the smell of coffee and caffeine entices him, and although he doesn’t really drink coffee, the thought of fresh pastries has his stomach grumbling. “hey,” he says, nudging her gently with his shoulder as he nods toward a nearby cafe. “want to take a break from the crowd?”

he couldn’t deny it was a date. even if only the two of them knew it. honestly, not being able to go fashion week the group turned out to be one of the best things to happen. it meant he had managed to see dongyoon a little more. once during their date for one of the day’s of fashion week. ( with slightly matching outfit’s and all. ) and tonight, he was able to go the bazaar with dongyoon. ( once again with them both managing to look good, in his opinion of course. ) 

as soon as he packed his car, seonghwa was out of it. walking around it to meet dongyoon, “it looks like things are in full swing.” the area was very busy and people passed by quickly. he glanced over at dongyoon and smiled. “let’s go, i’m ready to shop. if i had more time, i’d set up a stall as well” he shrugged, “plus, the faster we shop, the quicker we can go back to my apartment...” it was the lightest teasing ever but it was enough to cause him to blush as he started to walk a head of dongyoon. that really came out of his mouth.

♆ How Bazaar ♆

Normally Choi Sungmin wouldn’t be caught dead in a place like this, but he wasn’t here without a mission. He wasn’t the best person to take shopping, nor was he the best person to ask for shopping advice. Yet, he was here at the bazaar event with one goal in mind; to find gifts for his loved ones, and that was exactly what he was going to do. He was mostly here to buy something for his boyfriend, but he wasn’t going to admit that.

As soon as he entered the bazaar area, he immediately regretted it. He was already overwhelmed with the mass amount of stores and he had yet to walk through the area. He let out a long sigh before he began the long walk through the stalls. There were so many things for sale and he had no idea what to buy. He should just turn around and head home, but then the thought of how happy Seungkwan would be entered his mind and he knew he needed to stay.

Finally, his eyes landed on something that interested him. When he saw it he instantly imagined it on his sister and he smiled. However, just as he reached for it, someone else did too.

Being Fabulous ||

He was well versed on being cute and fabulous most of the time. So he liked to think he was well versed in fashion accessories and the girl next to him at the booth had the most styunning necklace. He grinned and decided to compliment. “I love your necklace!” he exclaimed, with a wide grin. She seemed so fashionable that even jongsuk was intrigued. He leaned close and grinned widely. “I love your fashuon sense in general”

namjoon rather liked flea markets and the flea market pop up at the women’s university was quite interesting. there were quite a few interesting things, but of course, if his mother was here, she’d call everything trash and insist on going to the designer stores. but he rather liked the flea markets himself, and so he wandered back and forth, looking at things on sale at all the booths. there was quite a few options, but as the evening drew closer, namjoon found himself getting super hungry so he decided to peek at the food trucks with a grin. food would be great at this point in time. 

he got food and looked around for a place to sit for a moment to eat. he saw an empty space next to a girl and he approached  her. “do you mind if i join you?” he asked, very polite and maybe semi-nervous.
