it’s been a tumultuous couple of weeks for the group, but ahyoung thinks it’s even moreso for haseul.

and even without her roommate’s telling, she’s noticed that something has been a little ... off between the two. not that she would even begin to know exactly what or even try to pinpoint how, but she could feel the abnormal energy when they were together in the same room. and there’s a large part of her that wants to blurt out ‘what the fuck happened’ whenever ariel gives a request to look out for the younger, dark hues brimming with confusion but her canine-like loyalty compels her to do nothing but oblige. just because they were group members who share the same space together didn’t mean that they had to reveal everything to each other, right? or it was more like ahyoung didn’t want to seem like the pushy type, regardless of her own feelings.

 it’s the leader’s words that appear at the forefront of her mind whenever she spots haseul from her place within the kitchen, letting out a bright yet stupid sounding “seul, haseul! hey hey, come over here ~” hands releasing the glass of alcohol as she waves the girl in question over to her. “come on, have a seat! i feel like we haven’t had like an actual fuckin’ conversation since like, 3 days! and in group time that’s basically like 12 years! and i’m a little! upset!” she states while patting the seat next to her in a rhythmic beat, pouting a bit at the end before grinning with a laugh, head lolling backward lightly, “nah, i’m just fucking with you. but like, come on, we need to like ... relieve some stress somehow, and this shit has been sitting in the cabinets for so long i’m ready to arrest the manager. you want some? it’s rum and coke, and i’m not planning on getting drunk,” she states, sliding the bottle of jack daniels across the laminate, “because i’ve only had a teeny tiny bit and i feel myself getting tipsy, which sucks major donkey butt, by the way. heh, ass ass. but anyways! you don’t have to drink, y’know, i make some bomb ass tea. tea is always good ~ or like ... whatever gets you to stay and chill. because how are things?” she states while gripping the bottle and pouring herself another drink, eyes flickering from the liquid to the girl.

“like, joohyun? is it awkward or are y’all cool? i know it must be crazy weird to go from suji to no one to joohyun in like? weeks? even though it feels like it all happened in two days.”

things have slowed down considerably since promotions ended, making it prime time to get to know her fellow members a little better. she’s been trying to open herself up to them more, little by little, and while she can say with confidence that she no longer feels like she’s just a replacement within the group, she knows she still has a bit to go before she feels like she can just open up to them about any of her personal matters.

of all the members in the group, joohyun believes the one she should be closest with is haseul, considering the fact that they’re roommates, but for one reason or another, she feels like one of the furthest away. she supposes a lot of that is her own fault; it’s hard to become close to someone who closes themself off, after all, but she has no intention of keeping it that way, and what better way to do so than by making a mess in the kitchen. she’s exceedingly happy that haseul had been so receptive to the idea of recreating pinterest recipes. she just hopes haseul has enough patience to deal with her incompetence in the kitchen.

with everything set up including a tablet for following directions, she shuffles into their shared room and peeks her head in, all smiles. “everything’s ready to go!” she says, suddenly revealing what she has in her hands: a pair of matching aprons, one in a cupcake print and one in cherry print. “including these! i’ll let you have first choice~!”

Do you ever worry that Haseul might still have feelings for you but has gotten better at hiding it?

          “ um   —   i would hope not. ” the question is unsettling and she hadn’t thought of it much lately; hadn’t thought of it much at all in the recent years. because it had been years. in all honesty, she’d assumed that haseul was over her by now, especially when she’d had such deep feelings for someone else. feelings that had become a relationship of sorts, even if it fell apart. but, she knows from experience, when you’re heartbroken, it’s easy to fall back on the past, to go back to previous cruxes. all she can think now is she hopes haseul wouldn’t hide it and tell her honestly, especially when ariel had finally gotten more comfortable with talking to haseul about her own romantic feelings towards someone else. “ besides, i like to think i can read seullie really well. we’re best friends. ”
