I CAN MAKE YOUR HANDS CLAP !! feat. ( @longguork , @jinsoulrk, @changminxrk , @rkxsua , @rkjaewon ) team BOOM BOOM! performing handclap by fitz&the tantrums. choreo notes.
being back on a team is weird-- after a week of not being in a company practice room. for a moment, yoongi’s at a loss of what to do; how to talk to people again, how to start doing anything. but it grows to be easy-- he has nice kids on his team. talented people, and fellow wild cards like himself. yoongi doesn’t feel like the odd-one out for once-- and they’re doing a dance focused performance. he couldn’t ask for anything more.
WELCOME TO THE MGAS // episode seven . . #4011 - 김진희.* KIM JINHEE. ━━━━━━ . . . MGA AFTER SHOW CHOOSING WISELY.
maybe, just maybe, she’d improved far more than she thought after all.
going from fifth place for two weeks in a row all the way to first is enough to fill her heart and make it spill over at the sides, but jei’s not the type to show it. after all, this isn’t a competition for her, but rather for the team around her. she’s only working hard for them; it’s more elation that comes from the feeling that, perhaps, this show isn’t rigged or she doesn’t actually have a curse on her name after all.
she doesn’t expect, though, the type of challenge they have set up for her next. it’s not something completely unexpected - after all, they have to cut the numbers somehow, especially with adding a few more to their ranks. but the idea of survival of the fittest never really sat well with her, because once upon a time - when she was a different kim jinhee - she wouldn’t even be in the running.
it’s a little disappointing that she has to separate from hyuna so early after the first place win, but it’s not like she has a choice. jei knows all too well that there’s no way hyuna will pick a choice of dancing, even if her ankle wasn’t already giving her a struggle. rapping is where her passions lie, and she is so much more different than her. her passions don’t even lie in this competition. if she was ever asked, she wouldn’t even know how to answer where they do.
still, though, she is definitely more of a dancer than a singer, and rapping is definitely not even within the scope of her choices. so when her name is called - rather soon, considering that team vista had first place - she steps towards the staff and listens to instructions attentively, eyes sharp and ears pointed.
this week is survival of the fittest, but honestly at this point, she simply wants to dance.
SINGING DANCING RAPPING Amazing Kiss (3) Instruction (6) Born Hater (3) Love In The Ice (6) Handclap (6) Who You (2) Stay (7)
her eyes are critical as she judges the choices - this doesn’t even look remotely fair given the amount of dancing spots versus the rapping or the singing. the teams in the lower ranks are going to have a really hard time for next week, and it makes her bite her cheek. she can’t even imagine what the wild cards themselves must be thinking.
if she’s honest, she’d have given up her first place spot to allow sungwoon, or jaewon, or even yoongi a chance to pick first. her eyes snap up at the thought, and before she thinks, she’s asking, “ can i give up my spot to someone else? since i won first, i should get that choice too, right?” after all, the reason she’s here is not to fulfill a dream. instead, it’s just to maybe pass the time, and definitely support her friends. when the staffer shakes his head, she frowns tightly lipped, and looks back down at the choices again.
there’s no way to get around it.
she doesn’t even bother listening to the choices for singing or rapping, instead choosing to go through each song for the dance option slowly. instruction is a strong beat, wild in its form and definitely fun to listen to and handclap is along that same vein, though not quite her cup of tea. stay, though - stay has potential, and she can see herself in a stage like it.
the problem is, she’s already done more than one emotive stage. at the very least, if she’s here, she wants to show something else.
“ i’ll take a spot in instruction then.” jei says finally, stepping away from the choices and bowing her head slightly. “ thanks for your time.”
hopefully, this week will bring familiar faces, too.
▫︎ ▪︎ ━ perseverance .
there’s a lot of things that hyojong expected out of jaewon being on the mgas, but getting kicked off after the second episode wasn’t one of them. and even though jaewon isn’t the type of person to let onto his feelings all too well, he knows him better than anyone else - there’s still the sadness in his eyes, the way his shoulders drop just slightly. life is a game that threw too many curveballs at jaewon, and hyojong thinks there’s only so many that one man can handle.
so he’s worried. he thinks he has a right to be so, after all .. they’re dating. hyojong loves jaewon to the ends of the earth, and seeing him wear his widened smile and still look so sad breaks his already broken heart.
that’s why he decides this weekend will be for them. as much as hyojong usually tries to stay at least an hour later than their schedules call for, this weekend, he wants to spend making sure he tries to be there for his boyfriend. it’s what he deserves, after all, after suffering such a disappointment. he’s got a lot of plans for tonight, starting with a few kisses and ending in anything.
right at this moment, hyojong just wants to do anything and everything that would make him happy. jaewon deserves it - and he’s afraid that after this setback, his boyfriend won’t try again.
he just wants to remind him to persevere.

charisma starter for @rkjaewon !
Where was she? He felt like he already encircled the entire place at least twice. She wasn't seated and playing any games, or at least, not from what he could tell. Scanning the area proved to be kind of useless and he would just send her another text if she was actually answering any of them. His cousin should have known that Mingyu would like some sort of heads up if she was going to be really late or... you know... not show at all. Though, when he spoke to his aunt, she claimed that the older girl was already here and waiting for him.
Sighing, he decided it would be his best option to ask someone if they just so happened to see her around. Talking to strangers wasn't something that he liked to partake in if not completely necessary, though he thought it would maybe lessen the blow if he approached one of the employees. Clearing his throat, he called out a gentle, "Excuse me," as he waited for the other to notice him. Once he had his attention, he attempted to smile before asking, "I was waiting for someone, but... I can't seem to find her. Have you seen a girl, around this tall," he gestured, "and probably wearing a red hoodie that's several sizes too big? She has kind of short hair... dyed blond."
WELCOME TO THE MGAS // episode seven . . #4011 - 김진희.* KIM JINHEE. ━━━━━━ . . . INTERVIEW at NOVA ENT CURRENTLY JUDGMENTAL.
the first thing she thinks when she’s led into the room is that this is not her job.
jei’s absolutely sure that this portion of the show is just being done for dramatic effect, to see where loyalties lie or to figure something out she hasn’t quite put a finger on. regardless, it’s not her job to sit in a tiny little room with a camera and choose between talented kids just because she’s asked to. that’s a problem for the judges, not her. still, her face doesn’t show any of these thoughts, carefully kept into a cool neutral expression as it always is - her eyes cast over the pictures as she sits down in front of them, lifting her gaze only when there are instructions for her to choose.
yes, that’s what she already gathered and yes, there’s still the annoyance in her that she even has to do this. if they’ve made it this far, clearly these kids are talented. it’s obvious that the companies can’t take all of them, but to make her choose the best is not her place.
“ maybe i won’t choose the best. i guess that’s a subjective term regardless, isn’t it? everyone has their own views of what the best really is ..” she pauses, leaning back in her chair. “ still, there are bound to be better dancers, better singers, better rappers than the ones i choose. i know for a fact there probably are, even on this competition.” jei says finally, eyes lifting to the camera. “ but i will choose the best ones, to me. my favourites, and ones i’d like to see do well in the future. if you haven’t guessed yet, i’m quite loyal to people i care about so you probably won’t be surprised by my choices. i’m actually not sure how interesting this is going to really be.” meaning, she’s not going to be cutthroat, or cocky, or anything else which is probably what they wanted to hear. “ though, i think you’ll have a hard time finding many who won’t choose their friends.”
they didn’t give her a time limit to speak, so she’s just being honest. with that, her eyes cast down to the table to find her choices - she already knows who she’s going to choose, so it doesn’t really take too long to snatch their photos from their places.
“ first, singers.” she holds up sungwoon’s photo, eyes glancing over it and then back to the camera. “ i choose the show’s tiny giant, ha sungwoon.” she doesn’t really go into specifics about their friendship - in fact, it might come as a bit of a surprise that she alluded that they are friends. “ if you ask me why, it’s because i like his tone. his voice is soothing, and i think it’s nice to listen to for a long time. sometimes, i think voices can be a bit annoying to listen to after awhile, but i’ve never been annoyed by his.” she pauses for a moment, eyes flicking to the ceiling as if in thought - and finally she says, “ and, he’s charming. he made me laugh, which we all know is a hard thing to do. so he has my pick.”
“ for dancers, i’ll have to go with hwang hyunjin.” she holds up his photocard, though this time she doesn’t look at it. “ not only is he a hard worker, but he’s very creative. i think he’d do well and stand out, both because of his talent as a dancer and his ability to communicate.” jei pauses here, biting the inside of her cheek. “ i think communication is a very important quality for a dancer to have, whether it be through expression, movement, or even in the way hyunjin does it through sign language. he’s very original, so i think his solo performances especially are interesting to watch. i’d be interested to see how that would translate to an idol group, but i am concerned that being in one will take his performance .. colour away.” by colour, of course, she means his unique ability.
“ and for rappers, i bet you thought i’d pick kim hyuna, didn’t you?” here, jei holds up her best friend’s photocard, but a thin lipped smile crosses her features. “ .. you’re right, hyuna’s very talented as a rapper and there’s nothing i could say that you don’t already know about her. but i also think that jung jaewon will surprise you. he was eliminated early, but it was a mistake.” the words she speaks are blunt, but this is an opinionated interview so she doesn’t see a problem with them. “ i said for dancers, that expression is important. and that’s true too, for rappers so i understand the reason why he was eliminated from the show. but regardless, it was a mistake nonetheless because he’s very .. mm, different from others. it’s hard to understand him sometimes. but i’ve worked with him once before, on a backing track for his submission to the market o contest. i know he’s got talent, i think he was just having a hard time at that moment and ultimately he was eliminated. so i think he’ll manage to do well, if he can overcome his own weaknesses.”
finally, the ending question .. jei holds the photos in her hands, eyes staring straight into the camera. “ if i had to choose, i’d like all of these people to win because i think they all have potential to be great performers. however, if i’m honest, i have a few concerns about hyunjin and jaewon in an idol group. they’re so unique, it would be a shame to take that away from them as performers. but this is what they want, so it would still be nice if they could win.” she pauses. “ i think, though, that i would say hyuna has the most potential to win this entire thing again. she did it once, so i have no doubts that it’s possible. everyone is supporting her, and that includes me, too. i know she has the talent and i know her performance skills are top notch, especially as a former trainee who has faced three survival shows.” her expression turns fond as she looks at hyuna’s photo and places it down, finally gripping sungwoon’s in her hand.
“ as for sungwoon, i think it’d be foolish to say he won’t win or can’t win just because hyuna more than likely will.” the words are said with confidence, though jei shrugs her shoulders gently at the thought of it. “ i think he has all of the qualities that it seems the judges are looking for, besides .. dancing.” jei crinkles her nose a little when she smiles here, but the smile itself is short lived. “ but he improves as he works, and he works hard at it so i don’t think that it would be a problem for him to learn as time goes on. i think he’d make a good candidate for drama osts, personally.”
with that, her segment wraps with the staffer cutting her off. jei stands from her seat, putting the photos back in their places one by one - each of them with a fond look in her eye that’s covered by the way her head is lowered. finally, all she does is leave the room.
It’s a small, unassuming paper bag. At the top, a neatly tied ribbon keeps the bag closed. On the outside of the bag, a messily scrawled, ‘To Jei noona’ addresses the ‘care package’. Inside, there’s several items, each with a label attached; crammed writing on it containing a short (sometimes long) note about each gift. This past week hasn’t been easy for Jei, especially after the most recent round of eliminations. Still unsure of who might be on his team the following week, Hyunjin decides it’s best to stop by and give her (read: her doorman) the bag now in case he’s unable to do so in person. Besides, most of these items were meant to comfort - there’s no reason to withhold that.

✱ ━ SPIRITED AWAY.
he thinks he may have taken a wrong turn somewhere, but he’s not too worried about it. most people find back alleys a little spooky, but hyojong finds them a little relaxing. he’s got his hands shoved into his jeans, eyeing signs for .. well .. anything he might recognize, like a street sign or at least a restaurant in the distance or something. but the only thing that he can see is a rather old fashioned store front with the words ‘general store’ labeled from a sign.
altogether a little strange, but there’s no harm in asking for directions anyway in case he really did make a wrong turn awhile ago.. in which case he’d really need to double back because he’d been walking for quite some time.
the shop inside is strange. when he slides the door open, it’s only very dimly lit and decorated almost .. ornately. much too ornate to be some kind of general store as advertised, but maybe the owner is just peculiar.
his eyes start to wander over strange objects - a pot in the corner, talismans, jewelry. they seem to have a really odd mix and match of items but finally a boy hunched over something in the corner catches his attention. “ oh - “ he grins, making his way over to him and peers over his shoulder. the shop clerk seems to be playing some kind of game and distractedly mutters to him but hyojong doesn’t mind. he can wait.
“ i’ll just wait until you’re done.”
