Pt 3 of The Falling of Kim Taeyeon - Previous: Pt. 1, Pt.2
Sometimes dreams are more dangerous than reality.
Taeyeon had felt that things were going better. It seemed like Joohyun was starting to open up to her more, to share little tidbits about herself, about the girl that Taeyeon wanted to know everything about. Taeyeon had even come out to her brother as a result of how strongly she felt about where the two of them were going. Jiwoong even came and met Joohyun one day, even though that was something Taeyeon had not intended to happen for a long time coming.
Joohyun had started smiling more, had become more affectionate than she had, though it was obvious she was still holding back as far as letting herself get too close to Taeyeon. Taeyeon was convinced, however, that with determination, she could eventually break down those walls, and consider Joohyun her girlfriend. It was nearing Christmas time when she began finally telling her closest friends about the girl that had actually been getting her to leave work at the correct time for once.
Everyone had been super supportive, from Tiffany being her usual teasing self to Hyeri probably having a lot more questions than Taeyeon’s innocent heart could handle, to Jonghyun trying to blink back tears from his eyes as Taeyeon rolled hers. Jiwoong had even given his seal of approval from their dinner meeting together, wishing his little sister good luck. She was even trying to work up the courage to come out to her parents in case the two of them ever did become official. Joohyun was someone she would have to keep private from the public, but to keep her private from the ones she cared about the most would have been a tragedy to her, especially since Joohyun was finding herself included on that list.
She dreamed of big things for them, once they took that step. Joohyun had always seemed embarrassed by her small apartment whenever Taeyeon would come visit, or the even smaller one she had to move into when her roommates left her. Taeyeon didn’t mind, though, she found the small space cozy. In her mind, if they officially became girlfriends, she wanted nothing more than to get an apartment for the two of them (and Joohyun’s cat, of course) to share together. Their place. Just the thought of it was something that brought a warm smile to her face.
Joohyun would text her more often as the two of them continued on, causing Taeyeon to get caught grinning like a fool more than once in the locker room as she checked her messages on break or after practice had let out. Their exchanges over text were the highlight of her day most days, with Joohyun seeming to be a bit more into flirting with her over text than she did in person. Maybe it was the safety of the electronic screen that gave the younger girl the ability to do that, to give that bit more to Taeyeon, to make Taeyeon feel like this was a real couple thing for them to do.
Christmas time had been coming soon and Taeyeon’s mind was racing at the possibilities of things that she could get for Joohyun, or even her cat for the day. One thing she was willing to give, though, was herself. The two had not moved beyond the kissing, Joohyun always being careful with Taeyeon. Despite being younger, she had had more experience in those matters than Taeyeon had, that was for certain. Taeyeon had planned that she was going to tell Joohyun that she was ready to take that step with her when she was going to stay with her over the holiday.
A few days before that whole plan was supposed to occur, Joohyun got some amazing news. She had passed the audition she had gone on and had been signed to a contract with Nova Entertainment. Taeyeon was so proud of her, she knew that Joohyun had worked so hard to get to that point, and she took this as a positive sign that things were looking up for them.
Christmas came and Taeyeon’s nerves got the better of her, and she couldn’t tell Joohyun that she was ready, she just didn’t know how to approach it and she figured it would probably be better to approach it organically than to try and force it into existence. She imagined their first time would be magical and filled with ‘I love you”‘s, and just be perfect, a sign of things to come for their budding relationship.
Sometimes dreams are more dangerous than reality.
