@lillys-home-for-strays Hi, I am in desperate need in tips for caring for a shaymin, my Sylveon, Persephone, found one and adopted it… I was told to ask you because I have zero clue on how to care for a shaymin, I never thought I’d have to take care of a mythical and I’m just really stressed right now!

OH HELLO!!!!!!!!yes i do have a shaymin (and a sylveon too what a coincidence JSKJFKSJF) and considering they are a mythical pokemon theyre a bit weird to care for BUT heres some tips i have for u from experience in caring for mine ^_^

-they mainly photosynthesize but can also eat if they want/need to!!i dont know if this goes for all shaymin but mine tends to eat more often in sky form since it uses extra energy

-speaking about sky form, idk if this is common knowledge but they have 2 forms!!shaymin turn to sky form when exposed to a gracidea flower (a flower native to sinnoh that looks basically exactly like the ones on shaymin) they become grass/flying type and take on a much more energetic, even rowdy, personality. however they turn back to land form when its too dark or too cold (including when shaymin has a frozen status effect)

-shaymin are quick to attach themselves to anyone who shows them genuine gratitude or generosity, which may sound a little surprising since its a mythical pokemon but they are the pokemon of gratitude itself after all XD however they can sense selfish intentions and will either flee as fast as possible or, more commonly in caught shaymin, become little balls of sass if they know someone has ulterior motives!!!

-shaymin have the ability to purify the environment around them of any toxins, and this enables them to use the move seed flare!!however these toxins are stored inside shaymins flowers and it can get VERY sick if those toxins arent seed flared out soon. seed flare is a very powerful move that, as its name suggests, flares out, so i advise taking your shaymin to an open space to use the move if its absorbed any toxins!!the best way to tell if its absorbed any is that its flowers will be significantly darker in color or even black

-some shaymin can naturally use telepathy to communicate with humans, and ive heard on forums of shaymin who dont use telepathy learning how to after making friends with other pokemon who do!!if u know any pokemon that can use telepathy it might be a good idea to have them meet your shaymin if u would like to understand them better ^_^

-shaymin, like most other mythical pokemon, are genderless!!so dont bother trying to find if its male or female bc its.Not LOL

-shaymin are actually one of the more common mythical pokemon to own considering the large number of them out there and their general friendliness, so it isnt that hard to find info and tips for having them ^_^ there are even a few sites and even a forum out there for shaymin trainers!!u can try asking on gracideaforums.net for more info if u want<3im on there with the username honeyfleur!!

OOOOOOO its rlly fun and its also like.a Huge thing in kalos too i think thats primarily where they use the term "performer" too<3ive been to paldea and it didnt seem like Any kinda performance-type things were rlly popular :(?i hope contests and stuff will get picked up there sometime soon bc it is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL region and definitely a perfect place to hold contests...........i can imagine like.an outdoor performance being held in that northern area i found sprinkles in its so pretty aaaaaaaaaaa<3.....................

ALSO sylveon is a super fun pokemon!!!!!!!!!!!its a rlly affectionate and even clingy pokemon which is fine with me bc im the same i get it LOL basically an eevee thats rlly bonded with its trainer can evolve into a sylveon and upon evolving it becomes even MORE attached so.its a pokemon that requires a lot of commitment for sure!!but if u can meet their need for love and attention then u will definitely have a loyal, loving, powerful partner by ur side ^_^

how big and sturdy of a bed do you have to own to even hold your pokémon to cuddle

and side question how long is yam’s fur

oh man i’m gonna be honest i don’t have a bed anymore it was just way too small LMAO- i just sleep on the floor with a bunch of blankets and pillows 😭 and that’s when i’m at home in alola, rn i camp out pretty much every night (unless i’m in a town) so i had to buy this big ass tent to fit all of them and it’s still slightly cramped. i don’t bring any pillows in there cause there’s no room, i usually just sleep on kami or yam lol

and yams fur isn’t that long (besides the big tufts ofc) but it is VERY soft like genuinely one of the softest things i’ve ever touched
