Noé Archiviste for the character headcanons ask! :3

1: sexuality headcanon - For Noé I lean towards thinking he’s either bisexual or biromantic asexual, possibly with a preference for men. I’d like to write a fanfic tackling the latter sometime (and I have something in the works already but I’m going to focus on the sequel to The Descent first).

My reasoning here is that Noé often seems to represent self-acceptance as well as acceptance of others in the story. He doesn’t have any qualms with who he is and he often talks about liking humans and vampires, he’s fine with the red moon and the blue moon despite everyone thinking that’s insane, and he outright says stuff such as whether he likes someone’s blood/scent/what have you (Domi and Vanitas). The whole blood thing is traditionally used as coding for sexuality in works about vampires in general, so I could see it being the case. His relationship with both Louis and Domi is often portrayed with romantic undertones as well, so I figure it’s possible. *shrug*

It hasn’t really come up in the series itself yet, so it’s hard to say for sure though!

2: otp - Definitely Noé/Vanitas, which will come as a surprise to no one. XD I just really love seeing how their relationship is developing over the course of the series and I like how unusual it is. Mochizuki has really gone out of her way to represent them as two sides of a whole. Even their basic character design is set up as complimentary opposites: one has light skin and dark hair, the other has dark skin and light hair. Then there’s their opinions and personalities, which are very much opposite but complimentary. And then there are simply scenes like the dancing one, which I think are awesome. ^^

3: brotp - Noé/Dominique for sure although I also think they would make a cute couple. I feel pretty bad for Domi a lot of the time but I also admire her a lot. Despite knowing/thinking Noé doesn’t return her feelings she still goes out of her way to protect him and make sure he’s all right. Definitely true friendship right there! Noé already admires her but I hope someday, when he sorts all that out, they can have a real conversation about it all. I think their friendship would be even more epic afterwards.Honestly, it all reminds me a little bit of Sakura/Tomoyo from Cardcaptor Sakura.

4: notp - I have yet to see anyone actually ship this but it would have to be Noé/Ruthven. I think fanfiction exploring their dynamic would be interesting (not necessarily in a romantic way but in general) but, wow, I do not want that to ever be canon. XD

5: first headcanon that pops into my head - I really don’t think Noé killed Vanitas in a traditional sense. I think he was either manipulated into doing it somehow or, more likely, he simply failed to save him and sees it as the same thing. I also think he might find a way to save Vanitas but that may be wishful thinking. It’s definitely too early in the series to know for sure. XD

Another headcanon is that when Mochizuki did that extra where Noé made his New Year resolution is to “be a vampire that drinks blood rather than have his blood drank, preferably Vanitas’s” she could be saying he’ll drink Vanitas’s blood sometime this year. Unlikely? Oh, yes, but I suppose it’s a possibility.

6: one way in which I relate to this character - Hmm, we’re both pretty polite and we both like desserts. We also both have a natural curiosity although I’d say Noé goes to greater extremes than me to satisfy his. XD

7: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character - Honestly, all of chapter 23. The second-hand embarrassment was so intense I barely got through the chapter. XD I hope that if that topic ever comes back up (drinking Vanitas’s blood) that it is slightly less awkward than it was there.8: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? - Definitely a cinnamon roll. He’s such a good and well-meaning person!

29: If life is a game, like some people say, what are some of the rules?

I’ll list 5. 

1. Don’t waste your time doing something that you do not enjoy. 

2. While misunderstandings are fine, lack of respect is not. Even if you do not understand someone else’s logic, at least respect them enough to hear them out. 

3. We all need a bit of kindness. Make sure you show some to everyone you come across. Even if they wrong you, you may be the person that is able to turn their day around. 

4. Don’t bother with toxic people. All they do is drain the life out of you. 

5. Enjoy what you love regardless of what others may say or think. You do you.

Hi! Hope I’m not bothering you, but do you have any B x Misa headcanons (not in a romantic way necessarily, but more as bros)? I have this prominent mental image of Misa being hyped about having a “shinigami eye buddy” and doing cute things with Beyond like going shopping, doing each other’s makeup, murdering people together, the whole shebang. I’d be curious to hear your thoughts! :3

Hi @rmglawliet, you are most certainly never bothering me, thank you so much for wanting to hear my thoughts lmao! Yes, I do love thinking about these two together. It seems like such a shame that they never got the chance to actually meet.

B x MISA BROTP HEADCANONS:

- I love @puropoly​’s headcanon that B is a big fan of Misa’s music and modeling career! That’s such a cute idea. He fanboys hard over her when they first meet and flatters her with his intensely accurate and detailed knowledge of her entire discography and every single magazine spread and straight-to-VHS movie she’s ever featured in. This is how they first click and become BFFLs

- B and Misa both enable each other’s bad behaviours like crazy.

Misa’s like: “hmm so Light said I have to stay in hiding for the next week because it’s a matter of life or death but I miss him soooo much already and IDK WOULDN’T IT BE SO CUTE IF I JUST SPONTANEOUSLY SURPRISED HIM AT HIS SCHOOL INSTEAD??” and B’s like: “YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE, CHASE YOUR DREAMS HONEY, HE’S LUCKY TO HAVE YOU AND THE WORLD’S YOUR OYSTER!”

B’s like: “Soooo I sent L 34 texts and left him 16 voicemails last night but he still hasn’t gotten back to me yet and idk, maybe his phone is dead or I’m just being paranoid but it almost feels like he’s ghosting me, do you think it might come off as clingy if I tried him one more time?” And Misa’s like: “pffft no that just shows him you’re super sweet and romantic, here let’s use my landline and we can group dial him together!!” Yeahhh, poor impulse control to the max. Rem’s the aggravated mom-friend in the background trying and failing to be the only voice of reason, she’s definitely not a big fan

- Misa learns makeup tips from B, and B learns a billion fashion tips from Misa. They also swap and share clothes and give each other acting advice all the time. B helps Misa learn her lines for her new movies and Misa often brings B to hang out with her on the sets. He loves to lounge around in her private trailer and mooch the desserts off the craft service tables and has a lot of fun making up tons of bullshit identities and stories while schmoozing with the cast & crew

- I think they’d relate over their tragic pasts and orphan status for sure. B would probably be good at helping Misa talk out the fairly recent death of her parents, not to mention have a big mental back-catalogue of helpful coping strategies for living life with the Shinigami eyes. He would be like: “you know if you deliberately unfocus your eyes and clench your jaw and sing this annoying jingle in your head repeatedly whenever you’re looking someone in the face for the first time it’s often possible to avoid seeing their name and lifespan altogether!” Or: “sometimes baseball caps and visors can help you obscure the numbers without looking too conspicuous about it if you’re walking around in a crowd during a sunny day, plus always use an umbrella during rainy ones.” Of course they also have a ton of inside jokes about the stupider names they see when out in public, and whisper speculative conspiracy theories together about the surprisingly short lifespans they see, too

- I feel like B would be Misa’s shoulder to cry on about Light’s meanness for sure. I think he would sympathize with her and resent Light for treating Misa poorly, probably tell her she should dump the jerk more than a few times. Doesn’t matter that Misa initially stalked and blackmailed Light in order to date him, to B that’s just a totally reasonable thing to do 

- Misa probably had a way fuller social life and relatively normal home life / school life growing up compared to B’s weird isolated and tragic one, so I bet he’d love to live vicariously through her stories about her wild dating past and some of the more ordinary shit she got up to as a kid with her family and friends. B probably also often half-jokingly presses Misa for details about her bedroom life with Light, and she always gets unusually flustered and defensive about it and refuses to divulge any deets

- B also might actually hate knowing that Misa willingly halved her lifespan for the same eye curse that he was born with and always detested having, though?? Mostly he’d probably be glad to have someone else to relate to about it, but I’m sure subconsciously that would bother him a lot at times. If they ever got into a big dramatic friendship-ruining fight, it would probably be over something like that

- I think they might confusedly think they have feelings for each other sometimes because of how well they relate to and support each other? I love the idea of them awkwardly trying to kiss or something during a slightly drunk sleepover and then both immediately being like: “yuck woah no offense you’re super lovely and a fantastic kisser and everything but this feels wayyy too much like I’m making out with my brother/sister, whoooops ok bad idea let’s never speak of this again”

Jean-Jacques for the character ask!

Oh, this is a little bit difficult since he’s still so mysterious! But let’s take a look...

character: hate them | don’t really care | like them | LOVE them | THEY ARE MY PRECIOUS

I find Jean-Jacques really interesting and I suspect he’s going to be something of a tragic antihero of sorts, much like I anticipate Chloé being. He’s obviously doing everything in his power to help Chloé, someone he cares for deeply. That part is admirable. But their  tactics are highly questionable, leaving me with an uncertain feeling about them both.

ship with:  I suspect Mochizuki is shipping him with Chloé and I’m okay with that. It feels very much like something straight out of an Anne Rice novel: deranged, uncomfortable, with elements of sweetness. In other words, it feels a bit like Louis x Claudia, which was arguably much stranger. Both Claudia and Chloé remind me of Baby Doll from Batman: The Animated Series, a woman who is forever trapped in a girl’s body and now I’ve completely derailed. XD (I highly recommend that episode, though...)

Anyway, they haven’t interacted with anyone outside of each other for ... centuries? Noé definitely seems like a novelty to Jean-Jacques, that’s for sure. Speaking of:

I can also see him eventually developing feelings for Noé, which I would also be all right with. They’re on shaky ground at the moment what with everything that’s happened. I could see Noé ending up far more hung up on Jean-Jacques than the other way around since, you know, I’m not convinced Jean-Jacques is going to live through this. 8D

I guess I don’t have any strong ships for Jean-Jacques at the moment though. I’m kind of all right with whatever Mochizuki has in store!

friendship them with:  Definitely with Noé. I think that they could form a very close bond if they were ever given a chance. Noé knows everything about him and Jean-Jacques was very accepting of Noé‘s ability, which I’m sure had an impact. Both characters are surprised by the other.

general opinions: I’ve kind of given some of those away in my previous answers. XD However, Jean-Jacques has led a very lonely life and he grew up in an era where vampires were hated. This clearly had a strong impact on both him and Chloé. I strongly suspect that they both wish to be human. Or, at least, I think that might be Chloé‘s ultimate goal. Jean-Jacques’s is much simpler: he wants to protect Chloé in the way she has protected him. His entire attachment to Noé is based on Noé protecting him once, so his attachment to Chloé must be even stronger since he views her as something of a savior.

Whatever happens to Jean-Jacques, I think he will serve as a turning point for Noé in particular. Noé so far hasn’t had strong opinions about Jeanne or the chasseurs (he’d been pretty ambivalent about both to be honest) but depending on who kills Jean-Jacques he may have much stronger feelings. He already dislikes Astolfo: if it’s him he may actually hate a chasseur. If it’s Roland it will throw their entire friendship into question. If it’s Jeanne it will definitely create tension between the two and possibly even between Noé and Vanitas since Noé would undoubtedly wonder why he was spending so much time with someone who is opposed to their mission.

I really like Jean-Jacques but I have a hard time seeing how he’s going to live through this arc. ): I think his main function is as someone who spurs Noé into some kind of action one way or another. I could definitely be wrong though! There’s still so much we don’t know. :0

2. talk about the girl who made you realize you liked girls:

It’s hard to pinpoint because I was very repressed about it up until about second year of college, but I think the first time I can remember feeling attracted to a girl was probably in junior high. My best friend had a very pretty cousin and we all shared the backyard swimming pool and lounged around in our bathing suits a lot, I think I was checking her out quite a bit and didn’t even fully realize that’s what I was doing, haha

I developed a massive crush on one of my female friends in high school, but was totally in denial about it and told myself it wasn’t REALLY a crush, that I just thought about her all the time and looked forward to sitting next to her in class and wanted to draw little pictures for her and give her thoughtful mix CDs because we were such good pals, hahaha. She had a boyfriend the entire time and never showed any signs of being into girls then, so that definitely added to me squashing my innocent-yet-intense feelings for her. It wasn’t until a couple years later when we were both at different colleges and I heard that she was dating a girl now (at the same time that I was) that the “ohhh my god I had a huge crush on her, and I still do” realization smacked me right in the face, because I was WAY too intrigued by that little bit of news, lol. I think as adults we both kind of realized we sorta liked each other back in high school, but we’ve never actually explicitly talked about it? It’s just a vibe I get sometimes when we hang out and reminisce about those good ol’ days, haha. I will probably always have a little crush on her, but she’s basically married to that college girlfriend of hers now, and it’s cute to see them so happy together!

10. Intimidating girls or kind girls?

I like both!

Funny. Also forward, because I’m ridiculously shy with girls….

26. have you found a community of lgbt+ people?

I had quite a few gay friends in college, but I’ve never been like.. officially involved in a LGBT group / alliance or anything of that sort. I tried to find something along those lines in my area here recently because I live in a pretty traditional/conservative/small place and I’d love to have more gay pals to hang out with now, but sadly there isn’t much of anything around me. Basically everyone I hang out with regularly now is straight. At least I have all the lovely gays on Tumblr, I suppose…

27. do you have any older lgbt+ people you look up to?

Not really, and I wish I did! Trustworthy role models are so important.
