We Made It announcement! At last official confirmation is here: Louis' next single is We Made It, and it will be released this Thurs! The announcement is brilliant, overlaid on a double of the original clip that he posted in 2018 and that we've been circulating since. Perfect aesthetic perfect in joke nod to the fans which is perfect for what he's been saying is the song 'for the fans', flawless all around, bravo! The lyrics in the old clip were "I remember those nights, (me with you or being with you), cheap drinks through the whole night" but journalist Bree Player tweeted the lyrics from today's clip, drawing attention to the fact that it isn't actually the same clip and the lyrics are "meet you at your uni" in place of the "me with you" line which is maybe new, or maybe just sounds different in the new version. Cue a lot of discourse for not a lot of lyrics but it has been a slowish day... We'll see what the lyrics (and their context) are soon enough. The song will be debuted on the Sirius morning show Thurs at 8:30 am ET though of course it will first be played at the international listening parties! All of them take place tomorrow though due to the perpetual annoyance that is time zones, not at remotely the same time as each other; the first of the events will be happening in about nine hours. What country will leak info first?? Lay your bets! South America would be traditional but the Philippines have a massive head start timezone-wise so.... Some of the listening party hosts have asked for questions for Louis, as have many others, everyone wants to hear your questions for Louis this week! The most exciting opportunity to grill him is via a Most Requested Live Ask Me Anything which they tell us will be posted Nov 2. All at once this time then? Or will we be getting clips randomly and unexpectedly for months again? cause TBH I'm fine with that. He was also, last but not remotely least, announced as a guest for the Build Series! It's an online in-depth interview series, very serious and respectable. So cool! A few lucky fans will get to attend and sit a few feet away from him in the tiny studio and I do mean a few fans: get ready for a real fight to the death for this one there are gonna be like 30 seats yiiiikes.

Niall arrived back in the UK, went to a Derby match with his dad, posted an morning time not dressed yet dancing in the bathroom to his own song on the radio clip, and went on what seems to have been a successfully incognito trip to a London shopping mall on a weekend afternoon! Nice. He posted a series of pics from Flicker tour bidding the era farewell once again.

Also: interesting chatter out there about Irving Azoff's ongoing battle with the Radio Music License Committee over licensing fees, saying that artists are getting screwed over. It's been suggested that perhaps Harry is choosing not to pursue radio promo (and thus not buy into the payola, etc) in order to support this fight. If so maybe it's working; he's charting, and well, and thus getting radio play even while giving his promo dollars seemingly pretty much all to streaming. Obviously there are an array of things happening with probably multiple reasons of which that is just one piece, but it's an intriguing one.

They're not gonna play the song on US radio tho and probably not his future songs either bc of the global music rights petition. Azoff is fighting RMCL (90% of terrestrial radio) for the licensing fees of music played on radio. He says they're too small and especially small artists are being f*cked over. Harry signed the petition to fight against payola. I know this is super important but it takes away from his success

That’s a big assumption. Also, there’s a lot of misinformation floating around. It has nothing to do with Harry signing a petition against payola.

It’s to do with ongoing litigation between Global Music Rights (Harry’s PRO, founded by Irving Azoff) and the Radio Music Licence Committee (which controls 90% of US radio stations). It’s been going on since 2016, is currently with a judge in California, and is expected to go to trial next year.

But in the meantime they are operating under an interim licencing agreement until the dispute is resolved. GMR artists are still being played on the radio.

Last week GMR sued a large Spanish-language radio media company for infringement of copyright on behalf of their artists (the first time they’ve gone after specific stations), so they are out there pissing radio people off. But we do not know if GMR’s artists are deliberately being discriminated against on radio. That’s a big assumption. Maybe! Or maybe Irving is holding key artists back pending negotiations? I don’t know, and nothing has been written about it. So unless we hear anything different, it’s all speculation.

So, a few highlights from the day: Everyone was as nice as the stories say. I met a few other folks who were doing their first meet, including one who showed up sans singlet. It was so cool to see how Jen and Dan helped out the newcomers in so many ways—providing a spare singlet for the guy who needed one, calling out reminders (e.g. "Stay there" when I locked out my first squat) to help avoid technicality DQs. After my first squat Dan told me that opening my fingers during the lift was cause for DQ (which I didn't realize, I've always trained that way) so I wouldn't get called on my later attempts. My second and third squats were both PRs, and the third was 2X bodyweight, which was a big goal for the year. So scratch that off the list! From how it moved, I probably have another 20-40 lbs or so on that lift, so now I'm excited to see where it goes in training. Third deadlift got me in the 400 club, previous PR was 365. It was the first time I stuck with a grind on a DL instead of bailing out, and I made it to the top.
