Big Things from Little Packages.
The thing about Rai MU which is different from my experiences in other private servers, is that zen actually matters. Yes, those red numbers at the bottom of your inventory that you used to ignore. You'll need it initially in this game.
I certainly did, and I remembered asking Hadar to lend me 40 mil zen so I can reset, because I don't have a clue where to get that much. As a beginner, it can be quite tricky gauging around stuff and farming for what you actually need.
Now, with all the crap that you loot on the ground, it gets quite annoying trying to pick up every single thing just so you can NPC it and get like 1k zen.
One would think that what you see in this inventory are all utter crap that deserves to just be dropped on the ground after you've been to Blood Castle or Devil Square, or simply out in Lost Tower.
FALSE.
Here's a list of "hidden treasures" along with their "sells for" amounts in Rai MU that at first glance are just trash, but can actually fill up your inventory AND vault bank quicker than a gazelle:
Devil's Keys = 500k to 1 mil zen Scrolls of Archangel = 100k to 300k zen Blood Bones = 100k to 300k zen
Loch's Feathers = 6.6 mil zen Dark Raven Spirit = 5 mil zen
Jewel of Chaos = 270k zen Jewel of Creation = 12 mil zen
These little bits of items sell for more than what the NPC states. For example, a Devil's Key + 7 will have a sell price of 500k zen, but you'll actually get approximately 1,166,600 zen, or a Loch's Feather with a sell price of 65k zen but gives 6.6 mil zen. Scrolls of Archangels and Blood Bones aren't that good, but if you are in dire need of zen then they're worthy of getting looted.
It's inverted in some cases, where it shows more sell price than it's actually worth. Crests of Monarch for example has a sell price of 5 mil, but you only get around 500k zen or so. Surely, of course, nothing beats the Jewel of Creation, with a sell price of precisely 12 mil zen.
I'll be keeping an eye out for mysterious items out there that might be worth than I might have guessed. Kinda feels like bounty hunting, heh.
NPC Repair VS Self-Repair.
I have a feeling that I'll be shying away from using the Albatross Bow. I went inside Devil Square 5, and within only 5 minutes, its durability went down to 42/99. It's quite baffling to me how its durability decreases that fast.
I asked Robbie about it, and apparently his Sword Dancer has the same state. It's not a big deal that it's almost near destruction within a few minutes in DS 5. It's just a bit of a shrug moment because self-repairing (i.e. through the Repair button on your inventory) will cost quite a lot.
TIP: Try to repair your items through the blacksmiths that you can find within cities, as it's A LOT cheaper. Self-repairing would have cost me 217k Zen here, for example. Repairing it through Master Yoda only costs roughly around 72k though.
I tested having the bow completely destroyed with 0/99. I can still shoot arrows with it fine, however. Neither did it disappear. I don't know if it's an odd thing since I've never had my items past 1 durability, heh. It can be repaired just fine as well, with no consequences or whatsoever.
