RNIB’s stamp envelope request form
The RNIB’s website has no Mx and very few gender neutral titles anywhere on its site - and the title field is required in every form. I just wanted to help them out by sending them my postage stamps, so this annoyed me.
Lately I’ve not had much energy for endlessly emailing companies to ask them to fix their online forms, but today I just couldn’t bear to pick a gendered title - not even the Inspect Element trick worked! So, email it is. Here’s their contact form, and here’s what I said:
Hi! I'm on https://www.rnib.org.uk/donations-and-fundraising/fundraising-your-community/stamps-appeal/get-your-pre-paid-envelopes and I'm trying to order a pre-paid envelope for the stamps I've collected for you. The form won't let me submit it without a title. Why do you need a title? I am nonbinary, which means my gender is neither male nor female, and I am EXTREMELY uncomfortable choosing a gendered title. The options were only Mr, Ms, Mrs, and Miss. A good gender neutral title that is pretty widely used is Mx - you can find out more at http://mxactivist.tumblr.com/mxevidence and I recommend that because it also has a list of places that provide that title and there are a lot of government departments and banks on the list. Would you consider making titles *optional* on all your forms and adding Mx for those who need it? And until then, can I please get an envelope (or just an address, I've not got many stamps to send!) for the stamps I've collected for you? Thank you!
If you wanted to help out you could just fill in the form and say, “I support you making titles optional and adding Mx to your list of titles,” or something like that?
They don’t have an email address listed so I’ll let you know as soon as I hear back from them, because their form is a little unnecessarily complex!
