UK petition: Mandate standardised Trans HRT prescribing training for all NHS GPs

Many NHS GPs will not offer shared care for hormone prescribing for Trans patients who are under the care of a NHS GIC (Gender Identity clinic). In many cases, many of them cite not having training, or adequate training to do so. We feel this underserves the TNBI (Trans, Non Binary and Intersex) community. Ideally a letter from a NHS GIC or NHS Gender Service to prescribe and what dosages should be sufficient. We are asking that the Government mandate TNBI prescribing training to all NHS GPs on a national level to so a TNBI person can access HRT prescribing at any NHS GP, anywhere within the whole of the country, without all the uncertainty.

UK petition: Disapprove the draft Equality Act 2010 guidance laid on 21 May 2026

I want the House of Commons to disapprove the Equality Act 2010: Draft Code of Practice for services, public functions and associations, 2026 laid on 21 May 2026. We are concerned that the guidance published on 21 May 2016 could lead to women being excluded from women's spaces based on their appearance. We think that the guidance will make it harder for trans people to participate in sport as either gender, and that it can limit trans people from accessing toilets and other facilities that match their acquired gender. I therefore think the House of Commons should disapprove this draft guidance.

Make nonbinary gender markers possible on any official document where a gender marker is required, e.g. passport, gender recognition certificate, marriage documents, death certificate. In the recent past the UK government repeatedly acknowledged the existence of nonbinary people, and it should provide documents accordingly.

Just learned that when the Green Party of England and Wales kicked a TERF out of their party (because they are the only political party who's actually had the guts to do that), the TERF took the Green Party to court over it because being a TERF is protected under the Equality Act (like religion), and the Green Party had to pay out £90,000 when they lost.

The Green Party discriminated against Shahrar Ali during a row over his gender critical beliefs, a court ruled.

I would 10000000% pay £90,000 to get a TERF out of my political party.

If you live in England or Wales and you are trans or have a loved one who is, you know how rare it is to have a political party say they support you and then actually do it - and risk legal and financial consequences for doing so. The Green Party currently has more members than the Conservative Party, and now they're catching up to Reform (the fash party), who are in second place. You may have heard that the UK has recently been having a spot of bother with some transphobic pressure groups who aren't happy that some cis women feel indifferent to or positive about trans women in women's spaces.

Hampstead's famous bathing ponds are currently, by popular demand of the members, trans inclusive. This has upset the transphobes, who profess to be big fans of letting women speak - so long as they have the correct opinion.

The pools are currently holding a consultation on whether to keep the ponds inclusive. The link has been circulated amongst people who aren't members but have Opinions about trans inclusion, so we might as well wade in, too (pun intended).

EU countries are already obliged to recognise the legal gender a person has recognised in another member state

EU countries must issue identity documents that reflect the lived gender identity of transgender people, even if they have not transitioned, according to an opinion from the EU’s advocate general.

Are you LGBTQ and living with chronic illness? Interested in taking part in creative research?

I am seeking participants for research exploring ways to improve access to healthcare for LGBTQ+ people living with chronic illness in England.

I am looking to speak to people who: are 18+ and live in England; identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, nonbinary, queer, or/and as part of the LGBTQ+ community; consider yourself to live with one or more chronic illness.

What is involved? Taking part involves two online conversations (interviews) and a creative task. Your participation in the project can be spread over several weeks.

Who is carrying out the research? I am a PhD student based at Liverpool Hope University. I am trans and bisexual and I live with multiple chronic illnesses.

The 2025 Gender Census is now open!

The 12th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 30th August 2025.

It’s short and easy, for most participants it takes 5 minutes or less.

After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.

"Puberty blockers do not cause problems with sexual functioning in transgender adults, study finds"

Researchers from Amsterdam UMC presented 70 transgender adults with questionnaires. All participants started with puberty blockers and then received gender-affirming hormones. The participants completed the questionnaire about sexual experiences, satisfaction, and possible sexual problems on average 14 years after the start of their treatment. The findings have been published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine & Research. Isabelle van der Meulen, researcher at Amsterdam UMC, explains, "Our results show that more than half of trans men and 40% of trans women are satisfied with their sex lives. This corresponds to the sexual satisfaction of the cisgender population. There was also no difference between people who started puberty blockers early or later in puberty." Most participants had no trouble with desire, arousal or having an orgasm.

The deadline is 23:59 on 30th June 2025 (11 days away), and if you live in the UK your response would be very welcome.

The TransActual guide has recommendations for if you want to spend a little time or a lot of time on your responses. Even very short responses with little or no text are valuable.

The last days of the petition against conversion therapy are FASCINATING to watch. I have been following it pretty closely for almost a year now, and the progress was, above all, steady. There was this jump when some algorithm in Finland picked it up, but even that was local.

And now, everyone is panicking.

Which really shows.

These past three or four days, multiple countries have reached the threshold. Even more notably, the number of signatures in total, the ones that we need to get one million of, are growing rapidly. There are only 400'000 signatures missing. Two days ago, it was closer to 600'000.

Only 170k signatures needed now! The deadline is May 17th aka TOMORROW - which is close, but it's gaining 100k+ signatures per day - which means there's a real chance the petition could make it! And they've already met enough of the per-country thresholds to qualify on that basis!

I was following this petition's progress via excited queer people's commentary on Mastodon! It was THE topic of the day, the petition site crashed due to so many people visiting and trying to sign, and when it passed 1,000,000 yesterday afternoon people were posting celebratory screenshots!

Basically:

This petition has successfully reached its goal.

Folks on Mastodon are saying that it's a good idea to keep promoting and gathering signatures anyway, in order to ensure that it's still over the various thresholds after false/failed signatures are removed.

You can sign if you have citizenship in an EU country, even if you're not living there anymore. There's a list of eligible countries on the petition page if you're not sure.

As of now (8am UK time, GMT+1) it is still open and that means the deadline is probably 23:59 today - 15 hours left, ish.
