Nathan Dean as Max Evans in Roswell New Mexico || Happy Birthday Nathan Dean Parsons 👽
[Your on screen chemistry is amazing. I mean how long did it take to build that up?]
Nathan: “Honestly, about three seconds I think. I remember- cause I was initially reading for the part of Michael. And I- you know audition, audition, audition. {Jeanine} was already signed on at this point- and I just kept reading for Michael and finally one day they were like- why don’t you try Max? Like maybe that will work better. And that one clicked a little bit- but then I had to go home and they called me back to have a chemistry reading with {Jeanine}. And I remember standing in the rain- and she walks up with an umbrella, and we have worked together years ago. And she walked up and it was just immediately like ‘okay, yeah, hi what’s up?’. We can make this work.
Thank you for joining us in celebrating Hatch Day! We had a blast organizing this event, and it’s heartwarming to see that our little fandom is still thriving. Whether you contributed content or engaged with our posts, your participation made it special, and we loved seeing everyone’s enthusiasm. 🎉
And guess what? Late submissions are still open! 🥳 If you hatch any creations inspired by the event, we would be delighted to see them!

The alien-human mischief from this post continues in this sequel!
As the party unfolds, Kyle reprimands Rosa for spiking the drinks. Clearly, she's not thrilled. However, his problems are just beginning. Remember Maria and Isobel's UFO conjuring spell earlier? It worked a little too well. But, aside from Jenna, everyone is oblivious to the uninvited guests. The question is: what happens next? 👽🛸
A ficlet featuring Max and Isobel bringing Michael over to meet their mother for the first time (pre-canon). Rated Gen, 660 words for the @rnmhatchdayparty!
~~~
Michael is feeling extremely nervous, but he tries not to let it show as he walks a little behind Isobel and Max, pushing his bicycle. They’re both talking excitedly back and forth, but Michael isn’t listening to them. Today is the day he’s going to meet their mom for the first time, and he really wants it to go well.
Isobel and Max have both carefully planned out the whole day for him. They waited for an early-release school day, because they knew their dad would still be at work. Max had shoved one of the polo shirts he’d outgrown into his backpack so that Michael could change at school before they left. He acted like he didn’t want to change, but Isobel’s insistence wins him over. At least his jeans passed inspection, since he hadn’t been working at the junkyard that day.
Just before they round the corner to their house, Max and Isobel stop and give Michael a once-over. Isobel declares him ready, and Michael smiles cautiously and gives her a thumbs up as he ditches his bike on the curb.
“She’s going to love you,” Isobel says with a gentle hand on his arm.
Then she marches up the front steps and pushes open the unlocked front door. Michael only spares a second to marvel at the fact that they just keep their front door unlocked before Max shouts, “Hey Mom, we’re home!”
“Is your friend here?” She calls back.
Mrs. Evans emerges from the kitchen with an apron tied around her waist, and her hair in a sharp updo without one hair out of place. Michael is already intimidated.
“Yes Momma, this is Michael!” Isobel gestures towards Michael.
Max elbows him lightly in the ribs and clears his throat. Oh, right. Michael is supposed to say something.
“Hello Ma’am, nice to meet you.”
“I hope you’re staying for dinner,” she says with a smile. It seems genuine.
“I don’t know, Ma’am. I have to get back home soon.” Michael says the lines they’d rehearsed earlier, so that he has an excuse to leave.
“Oh alright, well it’s lovely to meet you.”
Michael takes a deep breath. Maybe this will all be fine.
Isobel wraps her arm around his elbow, and he’s promptly marched up the stairs to their room. They’re mostly left to their own devices for an hour. Max shows Michael his book collection, and then Isobel busts out a bunch of CDs for Michael to pick from. At his current house, his foster dad just has a radio and some cassettes, so the CDs seem completely foreign to him. He picks one anyway, and they blast music on Isobel’s hot pink boombox.
Mrs. Evans brings them all lemonade and cookies. Michael doesn’t think anyone has ever brought him fresh-baked cookies before. He thanks her profusely.
It’s so much better than when he sneaks into Max’s window to hang out at night, because he doesn’t have to speak in whispers or keep himself from walking when Max is walking (which would make the floor creak too much).
He really does want to go, though, before Mr. Evans comes home. He doesn’t want to push his luck.
When he starts to climb out the window, Max stops him.
“You can go out the front door, remember?” Max says.
Michael starts to laugh at himself for the silly mistake, but he catches the sad tilt of Max’s mouth and how Isobel won’t make eye contact with him.
“Oh c’mon, today was fun,” Michael says, wanting to soothe them.
They both beam at him, and Michael smiles back. Then Michael heads down the stairs to say goodbye to Mrs. Evans.
“You’re always welcome back, Michael,” She says, and then presses a baggie of cookies into his hand. He’s not sure if that’s a standard thing moms are supposed to say, but he appreciates it either way.
He waves to all three of them as he walks back out to his bike, and breathes a huge sigh of relief. He tucks the cookies into his backpack for later, and hopes he gets invited back through the front door again.
