She solved a couple of problems once she's gotten far enough into the wilderness and under an outcropping of stone.
She carried small crystals. It didn't fully heal the gash in her side, but it did enough to knit flesh and stem bleeding. The skin was still open to the facia beneath--still an infection risk. She had no idea how robust the bacteria and such were in this reality. She could only hold so many worries at once. A bit of field stitching and a half dozen Band-Aids rowed up from the tin kit she kept in her coat was going to have to do.
Bigger worry was getting dry. And keeping the egg warm.
With the rain, her circumstances, and the lack of resources--she couldn't build a fire. She did have to get as much of her wet clothing off as possible. That mostly meant everything her coat hadn't been able to keep the rain off of. Pants, shoes, and socks. She could turn the shirt around backwards and tuck the egg between her torso and the turned around coat. Added bonus of the sunlight being gone for the night and the darkening camouflage of the coat.
She spared a glance for a small looking snake nearby trying to slither behind her to wherever it was headed. Decided it didn't look like it had poison colors. Not that such meant much when on unknown worlds. Still, it sure wasn't nearly big enough to eat her or the egg. She kept track of it, but decided not to bother with it.
Opted for hunching around the egg beside her laid out to dry clothing and trying to cat nap. She couldn't do much more for the time being.
[...]
What ended up waking her up was movement in her arms. A wiggle. She knew it'd stopped raining some time ago, but opted to keep resting. Even the itch from her side would hadn't bothered her much. Just the wiggle. Startled her upright to peer under the coat at the egg.
There was a hole.
Fucking.
Okay.
Right now?
A bit more of the metallic shell flaked away.
Right now it is.
She pulled the egg out from under cover and set it to the side. No idea what to do. Or not do.
So she got her now damp, mostly dried, clothing back on and kept vigil over the slight rocking and faint...chirpy sound coming from it.
The alien-human mischief from this post continues in this sequel!
As the party unfolds, Kyle reprimands Rosa for spiking the drinks. Clearly, she's not thrilled. However, his problems are just beginning. Remember Maria and Isobel's UFO conjuring spell earlier? It worked a little too well. But, aside from Jenna, everyone is oblivious to the uninvited guests. The question is: what happens next? 👽🛸
Happy birthday hekate! One year since this little dinosaur was unleashed upon humanity
