Week 10 Clinical update.
7-ish weeks ago, i made a post saying how much i hated my clinical and how bad everything was going and immediately after posting it i had to delete it.
Because that was just stress, new routine and fear speaking.
I am finalizing my first LPN to RN clinical in a surgical ward and i am going to miss it!
I learned SO much, got to DO so much stuff that i never got to experience as a LPN student.
I learned to deal with patients that are totally oriented and alert and not demented for the first time lol and it was just wild.
The funniest memory i have so far that always makes me giggle is this one patient i met, he was 2 days post transurethral resection of the prostate and he was very hyper and wouldn’t stay still and because of that his urine drainage bag came loose and he soiled himself and the bed.
So the exchange went like this:
Whoa. Ok sir i think its a good idea you go take a shower so i can change your bedding as you get clean, do you have your own personal soap or do you need one?
He nods so i go grab a single use soap for him.
He starts smelling the soap and i kid you not. The man ATE the soap.
This completely alert and oriented man just sniffed and ate the single use soap.
And i ain’t gon judge him cause i used to eat dust when i was a kid and now i’m allergic to every micro particle on earth.
But all that aside. I’ve learned so much and seen so much and also learned from small mistakes that i feel like i’ve grown so much as a nurse.
I also met some amazing patients and fellow nurses whom have become my friends!
Rotations are coming up in two weeks and for my second clinical i’m supposed to go on the COVID ward but i’m trying to see if i can avoid that since i’ve been having many lung issues with my asthma that unfortunately decided to reappear after 20ish years.
Owell. Hopefully i will update if i passed this clinical THIS FRIDAY!
So excited to start my nursing degree at this beautiful campus and awesome school 😍 #futurern #futurenurse #nursingstudent #studentnurse #nurselife #nursesrock #healthcareworkers #nurseintraining #nurseinprogress #nurseinthemaking #rnstudent #mountmaryuniversity (at Mount Mary University) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDwiCZ4FyYL/?igshid=ie79dwrg9rrn
V overwhelmed
I’m finally a NURSE.
My main goal with this tumblr has been completed!
Yesterday they announced who graduated from our college healthcare unit.
The unit consists of many students studying to be pharmacist’s assistant, social workers, RN & LPN.
Well i was happy to hear my classmates and of course my own name as a graduate, imagine my complete surprise when it was announced that not only was i the best graduate of the LPN study, i am the best graduate of the whole healthcare UNIT at my college!
I haven’t graduated in 9 years after high school and i never really made it much anywhere, so to study my butt off, make sacrifices and be able to graduate as the best of the best has me quite shocked, still.
But i can finally announce that...ladies and gentlemen,
My name is Michella and i’m a NURSE.
& I’m also the best graduate of the healthcare unit & LPN study of the year 2020 of my college.
I am PROUD, THANKFUL, GRATEFUL and ECSTATIC.
Lpn to RN, HERE I COME!!!
Back to the grind.
Tomorrow (In less than 12 hours!) i will start my morning with my first ever class as a RN student!
The courses are all online except for just one class that i will have to go to school for but i am excited!
I’m going to try my absolute best to nail my grades by giving everything i can give by studying hard, staying motivated and being disciplined.
I know the LPN to RN study isn’t easy but i’ve always been a sucker for a challenge,
I’m a RN-to-be, LET’S DO THIS!
Enjoyed some outside time today with my girls before my shift #medicalassistants #medicalassistantlife #dogsofinstaworld #doglife #dogs_of_instagram #doglover🐶 #mydogisfamily #mydogiscutest #springiscoming #futurenurse #rnstudent #rninthemaking #healthcareworkers https://www.instagram.com/p/B-K8kbhlLpE/?igshid=odewmbredshh
