i think a huge piece of the Why Is Everyone So Terrible To Nurses* puzzle is that we have forgotten (maybe intentionally) that there is an onus on the patient to be nice. every healthcare worker/caregiver i know will treat you either way, but you actually do owe them some amount of patience and kindness. yes they get paid to do this (not enough), yes this is their job, yes this is what they signed up for, that still isn’t permission to be mean or rude or scream or physically attack them. care workers actually have the legal right to withdraw care if it becomes too great a risk to their own safety to provide it. i get it, this might be the worst day of your life, the worst pain you’ve ever been in, the most exhausted you’ve ever felt. you know who else gets it? the 35 year old who hasn’t sat down in eight hours and just ran a code on a toddler and is now trying to get a very basic history from you at two in the morning when they haven’t eaten or gone to the bathroom their entire shift. or the 19 year old EMT who’s already been punched in the face once tonight and is just trying to get IV access so you don’t die on the way to the hospital. or the 50 year old MD who has told no fewer than three families tonight that they did everything they could but they didn’t make it and so maybe they aren’t in the mood to hear your diatribe about how terrible every doctor you’ve ever seen is. medical workers, caregivers, allied health, childcare — we will do our best no matter how you treat us because that’s our job. but fuck it would be nice to get a little grace in return.

i feel like don’t appreciate how much of a triumph of game design shitposting Campaign for North Africa is. It’s not only the grandfather of projects like The UNO Amalgam Chemicards, 5D Chess with Multiverse Time Travel, EXTREME Monopoly, but surpasses them on sheer scale and effort.

I feel like people forget that Campaign for North Africa was in fact a work of satire, and not an earnest attempt to capture the complexities of warfare. Which makes its existence make more and less sense at the same time. Because like. I cannot stress this enough this game is from 1978?!? And is a genuinely staggering amount of rules and system design? Like. imagine sitting down in 1978, pre internet, and going “hmmm today I will commit to spending the next several months making the Evil Torture Wargame” and then getting it published. It’s deranged

I talked with the administrator of the nursing home today about these new aides because I am so sick of them not doing their damn jobs. They don't listen, they don't do rounds on time, and they act like they know everything. I'm so tired of carrying everything for this wing - 30 residents

One of the day shift aides dropped a resident yesterday and it broke the femur of the resident EVEN THOUGH the aide claimed they weren't even transferring them and they were just trying to get up on their own (the resident.... Cannot stand on their own????) and they just believed the aide

My main coworker has late stage colon and liver cancer so she hasn't been at work much lately so I have been the only experienced CNA here on this wing and again. Very tired. Also. I'm very worried about her, she starts chemo soon

I have 2 weeks to learn enough python to be able to pass a coding test so I don't fail the class this term. No pressure 😅

OK SO WDYM JAX IS CLOSE TO ABSTRACTING, HE PRESUMABLY HAD A FIGHT WITH RIBBIT, (when he's looking at the globes of all their past adventures you can hear ribbit and jax's voice and them phighting) JAX HAD 2 PANIC ATTACKS, HE CRASHED OUT ON CAINE, (lowkey insanly valid crash out tho) CAINE CAN, INDEED, MESS WITH THEIR MINDS AND IS HEAVILY IMPLEID TO BE THE ONES CAUSING THEM TO ABSTRACT IN THE FIRST PLACE (when he said "I cant tell a compelling story where nothing bad happens!"
