Welcome to my little Tokyo 2020 blog
I've loved Japanese culture and anime and stuff for years now and have always wanted to go, living in the united states means that's not going to happen for me unless I get a shit ton of money together. Considering I'm very much in that living paycheck to paycheck group you hear so much about my dreams of Japanese fun as quirky American tourist had been put firmly on 'bucket list' and only acknowledged when discussing things I might like to do if I ever were to play the lottery and win some obscene amount.
The Summer Olympics on the other hand I have enjoyed even longer and briefly had a dream of being an Olympic Diver (A dream that lasted about as long as a swim teach made me swim like 20 laps in the huge pool when I was 10). I really enjoy the stories, the dream, the pageantry, and watching the drama of heated AMAZING competition.
The Summer Olympics came to Atlanta, Ga while I lived a few hours away in Panama City Beach, Fl. Alas back then I was like 15 or 16 and while I had just learned to drive, I didn't have money for a car, let alone tickets or gas money to get there. Going to a Summer Olympics one day has also landed on the Bucket List.
HOLY SHIT. The Summer Olympics are in Tokyo in 2020. The opening ceremonies are going to be amazing. I bet even I could save up enough money to go in a little more than 6 years. Just think! I could fly into town a little bit before the olympics start for all the temples, shopping, and culture and stay for the opening ceremonies and a few events!
I don't want to do this alone. Want to save along with me? Want to sit in my section of the opening ceremonies with me?
