Pretty bun I got last night, a little damage on the skull but I still want to see if I can salvage it. Usually never can get them this intact. I wish wild rabbits didn't have such thin skin or I would love to save their pelts but they are just too easy to ruin. He was a little cutie anyway.

some things.

raccoon and rabbit were found on the same bikeride. raccoon is the mystery animal and let me tell you he is massive. his skull is crushed and his guts are all over, but im planning on taking a scalpel, bag, bolt cutters and taking his arm and tail. he’s too big to carry home and i do NOT want to fuck around with exposed raccoon intestines.

Well, it went exactly as I had expected: green belly.

I imagine the rabbit had been dead for about a day or so, but since it was nailed by a car and sat in 75*F weather, I didn’t expect any different.

Accidentally ripped the front leg out of one paw, was gonna skin it off and sew it on but I thought fuck it, and cut both off.

I don’t know what those black lines are on this guy, but they are HARD to peel flesh membrane off of without cutting holes. Any idea what they are? My thought was scars.

Saved the skull, tongue, heart, and I’m salting the shit out of the pelt right now.

Well today has been exciting so far.

On my walk this morning I saw a Semipalmated Plover walkin around. I've been hearing them every night but never saw one til this morning. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/bc/Semipalmated_Plover.jpg/800px-Semipalmated_Plover.jpg

Then I was walking alongside a ditch, and like 5 feet away a muskrat was swimming beside me as I was walking. I knew there were muskrats in that ditch cause I saw feedbeds and swim trails, but never saw an actual muskrat there, so that was exciting.

Then I found a dead rabbit! Feels like it was hit by a car last night, so I hung it up to stretch it's legs out and to let it dry a bit (garbage bag was a little wet). It was a bit weird to go grab a littered garbage bag and then grab a roadkill rabbit in broad daylight in front of passing cars (one of which honked at me), and my social anxiety made it even worse, but it just goes to show you that sometimes when you push yourself, good things come of it. Going to case skin as usual. Fur seems nice with no slippage. Gonna get started soon today so it doesn't rot in the heat. Will of course post pics of the process. For now, enjoy my shitty rabbit bondage.
