Emra the Ballerina Headcanons -
TW: Suicide
She's bisexual and transfem, and goes by she/her!
Her parents are named Connor and Sonora Aldridge.
Emra and Jonathan/Puppeteer met in highschool when they were assigned partners for a writing assignment where they were supposed to write each other’s biography. Jonathan fell first and was head over heels for Emra by the end of the project because he saw her talents and overall life as interesting and even inspiring.
Emra didn’t realize she had fallen for Puppeteer until he asked her to go to prom with him half a year after they met, but when she realized she couldn’t have been happier. They started dating after that.
Jonathan and Emra hung out on the roof of their highschool a lot, and would eat lunch up there. After both of their deaths though, neither of them like high places or heights.
Emra often would sneak out the house to go see Jonathan since her parents did not approve of their relationship due to them thinking Jonathan was a bad influence. Jonathan got a bit insecure about it for a bit and believed he was not good enough for Emra. Emra always comforted him though and would kiss his forehead and remind him that she loved him and she didn’t care what her parents said.
Emra broke up with Jonathan when Emra had to leave for college, and her parents said they wouldn’t pay for her schooling if she didn’t break up with Jonathan. Jonathan, heartbroken, killed himself soon after.
Once Jonathan started showing signs of being depressed and suicidal, Helen and Emra tried everything to be caring and supportive for him and help him know he was loved. When Jonathan still killed himself, Helen started to be more distant towards Emra, despite her growing signs matching Puppeteer's. Helen had hoped that maybe doing nothing would help this time, only for Emra to kill herself as well. He felt like nothing he did mattered at that point anymore.
After Puppeteer's death, she actually fought for custody of Alice and Caleb, his younger siblings, desperately trying to get them away from their parents since they no longer had their brother to take care of them. Her failing to help them was what finally pushed her to kill herself, since she took it as her not only failing them but also failing Puppeteer.
When Jonathan died, she ended up writing a memoir/biography for him, before she killed herself too a month later from the guilt that his death was her fault.
Emra died in 2020. Emra killed herself a year after Puppeteer did, at age 21.
Emra's funeral was full of family fights, with most of her family still scrutinizing her in death. Alice and Caleb both attended the funeral, and kept getting talked down to, with most of the family disapproving of Emra's attempts to take custody of them. They all tried blaming her death on Puppeteer, ignoring her own agency to make her own decisions in favor of still blaming the dead man she loved.
Puppeteer never killed Emra, and instead had brought her back as the doll form when she killed herself by suicide. Him and Erma's friendship is still a little strained as of right now though, since Emra disagreed strongly with how he treated Zachary, and also because the two were really distant after death.
When Puppeteer brought Emra back from the dead, they weren’t exactly dating but hadn’t yet moved past their relationship. When they tried over again as ghosts though, it didn’t work out, causing a rift between them.
Puppeteer doesn’t have feelings for Emra anymore, nor does he want to say he thinks they could be considered friends. He does genuinely want the best for her though, and cares a lot about her, even if it’s not romantically.
Puppeteer did eventually tell Emra about his new relationship when he visited Zachary once and Emra pointed out his wedding ring. Puppeteer got a bit defensive since he thought Emra was jealous only to realize Emra very much wasn’t and was genuinely just curious and Puppeteer blew it out of proportion. The two got in a big fight, which ended in Puppeteer finally admitting that while he didn’t love Emra in the way he used to, he still missed and cared about her, and was worried that their relationship meant nothing to her. The two ended up slowly making up after the argument cooled down, and while their relationship isn’t perfect as friends, they’re working through it.
Puppeteer and Emra are still somewhat in contact with each other due to Puppeteer visiting Emra, Zachary, and Rosemary’s cabin pretty often, but they still aren’t sure whether to refer to each other as friends. Both of them are too scared to actually connect again leading to some very awkward tension constantly.
Jonathan and Emra used to always talk about the possibility of them having kids in the future. Jonathan wasn't ever really for it since he was scared of being a bad dad, and Emra always said she wouldn't force him into anything but she thought he'd be a great dad. This idea dissipated after they both died and Zachary came into the picture, but neither of them ever forgot about that conversation.
Jonathan was the big spoon and Emra was the little spoon.
Her, Helen/Bloody Painter, and Puppeteer actually were highschool friends. Helen was always a bit closer with Jonathan, and was a bit bitter towards Emra because they had the biggest crush on her boyfriend, but the two eventually got along more and more and became best friends.
Even though Helen skipped Puppeteer's funeral because of his mom forcing him, he snuck out to go to Emra's. They're still close nowadays.
Emra desperately tried to reach out to Helen after Jonathan's death, only to mostly be left on her own to handle her grief and try to help Alice and Caleb. This only further broke her mental health.
Emra would text Helen a lot after Puppeteer's death, desperately asking for help and trying to make sure she was okay. He ignored her, and felt horrible about it, since one of the texts was the last time he ever heard from her.
Emra's death also destroyed Helen when he heard, especially since, like Puppeteer, Emra gave several signs that she was struggling, and even reached out for help but he pushed her away. He feels like if he tried harder for both her and Puppeteer, maybe his two only friends wouldn't have killed themselves.
Emra forgives Helen for him being distant after Puppeteer's death, both because of the amount of time that had passed, and because he didn't know what would happen and that he never wanted that to happen. Helen has never forgiven himself though.
Emra is very close with Vine/Dollmaker, who visits the theater on several occasions. They help design clothing with her and are amazed by her being a doll.
She's also close with Zeyner/Roadwalker because of her being best friends with her son and daughter-in-law. (Zachary and Rosemary) Zeyner sees Emra as both a best friend and almost a motherly figure, especially since her mother was often absent in her life. Emra is unaware of this and Zeyner prefers it that way.
She was a big flirt in highschool, and was a bit of a hopeless romantic.
Often when Emra gets frustrated at somebody she doesn’t like, she will kick at their shin. It hurts like hell because her pointe shoes have wood, but also causes Emra's ankle to crack because of how much force she has to use.
In highschool, Emra loved hyperfemme outfits, the coquette aesthetic, romantic fashion, and 80s-90s fashion.
Due to her body being so delicate physically, Emra always tries to wear her pointe shoes so she can subconsciously stay graceful and cautious with how she moves.
When Emra isn't wearing her ballet costume, she typically is dressed in rather fancy outfits she designed herself.
She has a pear-shaped body type.
Emra has a red ruffly robe she wears to bed that Vine helped her make. She made the design and Vine provided the fabrics and helped her put everything together.
Her body is extremely delicate not only because it is easy to shatter due to being similar to porcelain, but it also can morph in extreme temperatures. Once she accidentally washed some dishes in scalding hot water, only to have to have her hand have to be replaced later because she had melted her fingers together.
She can not feel pain due to being a doll, which is a bit of a struggle since she is not immortal nor is she unbreakable, so she often will accidentally look over her own injuries and cracks due to literally not feeling it.
Puppeteer used to call Emra "Emmy" or "Em".
Emra is allergic to onions and radishes.
Emra is African American and Costa Rican.
Her favorite sweet is tiramisu.
Her favorite book she had to read in school was The Great Gatsby.
Her favorite movie is The Princess Bride.
She loved 20s and 80s fashion, and while she did end up having to do dance for her parents sake, fashion has always been her main passion.
Emra also used to be on the swim team in highschool. Jonathan would always come to every competition to support her.
Due to the theater not having working electricity, Emra often uses candles to light up the place. She always uses scented candles, so strong scents are around the entire theater.
She can play violin.
