⚔️Linked Universe Voices!⚔️
With Chapter 6 of Grounded just posted today, I thought it would be fun to share my thoughts on how each Link speaks! This is how I personally hear them, and I’m curious how similar/different it is for the rest of you! Also: This might be my own bias but I hear everyone as American English except Wars and Four—now on to specifics!
🕰️Time: Ron Swanson from the “Who broke it” short. Deep and intimidating but holds dry wit and humor—and has a hint of southern in there for his connection to the ranch. I think Jojo even said she likes that voice for Time, but I could be misremembering. It’s been referenced though!
🛡️Warriors: Well-spoken British English. Polished, smooth, clear and commanding, but can also have a little sass and mirth. It’s sort of a “royal” or “Castle Town” accent, and his Zelda shares it.
🪶Sky: Full-on Disney Prince. He’s got that classic animation gentle voice, soft spoken with a deep register that sits under a usually light, upbeat/encouraging tone. His voice is really scary and unsettling when angry because the light tone drops completely.
🐇Legend: I can hear him so well but for the longest time couldn’t explain it, until now: young 1970’s action hero. Think Luke Skywalker and Marty McFly, high register full of snark, maybe a hint of a wine but not in an annoying way. >u<
✝️Hyrule: Somewhere between Dipper Pines and Tobey Maguire (spiderman)! Soft, quiet determination, with a youthful tone, and a hidden spark of excitement.
⚒️Four: Irish! Because of the Minish, haha. I think the Minish accent sort of rubbed off on the culture of his time through some people using jabber nuts or hearing the Minish as kids. I like to think the accent is stronger for people who speak to Minish the most, and Four’s no exception. Though, he’s pretty quiet and soft spoken anyway, so it sort of balances out—unless he gets grumpy. Then it’s full-on Irish/Minish gibberish >u<
🍃Wind: Plucky, higher pitched, youthful voice, just on the cusp of deepening and might squeak here and there; still a kid’s voice but has a lot of maturity when he’s serious. Kinda like the kids who voiced Gumball the cat?
🐎Wild: I cannot unhear all those Breath of the Wild comic dubs to save my life. X’D I’m sure you know the voice I’m talking about, it’s like a hair off from how I hear Legend’s, but generally more goofy and a bit softer toned, and slightly more mature.
🐺Twilight: Steady, jolly, medium-deep register voice with a bit of southern drawl (but not as heavy as some others write it to be). Like Time, I see his accent getting stronger when he’s at home or talking about his Ordon family. ^u^
