SIMPSON BROTHERS BAND RELEASES NEW SINGLE

After winning The Shore 104.3′s Best of BC in 2012, the group has evolved musically. Today, their sound merges blues, folk, rock and pop, with an emphasis on harmony-driven country. The song includes the banjo, organ, guitars, and both Simpsons on vocals; raw and husky that adds a welcomed edge to the pop-influenced melody. For those looking for a fun, honest listen by a promising country act, look no further. We spoke with Simpson Brothers Band about their new music.

What inspired this particular track?

"Country Radio" took shape as a mixture of sentimentality, uncertainty, and optimism. Though the first verse evokes a sense of transition and difficulty, the track progresses with themes of happiness and spontaneity - an encouragement to embrace life and every situation that comes with it. We suppose the song presents itself as break-up track that strikes a tone of excitement for the future, and denying this would be dishonest. At its core, "Country Radio" wants people to fight for a silver lining and to remain present through every stage of life.

What prompted the shift to/heavier focus on country music?

This sound has been with us for as long as we've been practicing and performing together. Our roots were formed in blues and rock and, as we progress toward a more pop/folk sound, the harmony-driven vibe that we gravitated to consistently came up country-esque. We've decided to really embrace this sound in its entirety and focus on themes that we've identified with in the genre. Love, hardship, good-time memories and reconciliation have been so much easier to illustrate through our music by embracing a style that's been silently with us for a decade.

What's coming up for the remainder of 2017?

The remainder of 2017 is promo time - the record is nearly complete, and we're releasing “Country Radio” on September 15th as the first single. For the immediate future it's interviews, photo and video shoots, and rehearsals. We have big plans for an album release show/party that is set for early 2018, and we'll be keeping everyone up to speed on live performances as we go along!
