Samu takes on Rob Zakowski on USWA television in July of 1991! You might guess that “Samu” is actually the suicidal, homicidal, and genocidal death-defying hardcore legend known worldwide as Sabu! Zakowski is a young Rob Van Dam in the first year of his wrestling career! Don’t expect any of the all-out mayhem of their later matches in ECW, but it sure is fun to see a match from these guys in their earlier days! Zakowski is as green as Godfather OG here, but you see a flash or two of what was yet to come! He takes a beating, but rallies back against Samu with some of his martial arts-based offense! Just when Zakowski has him primed for a three-count, Samu’s partner Judge Dredd comes out of nowhere and shoves him off the top rope! The referee missed the interference and Zakowski is easy prey for the pinfall! How many people in the TV studio that day had any idea of the heights that these two would ascend by the end of the decade?
