Bunch of stuff about The Three Seniors under the cut. It got long.
Robbie’s confession was surprisingly really sincere. I figured he’d be a little more indifferent about the whole situation, but he seemed actually, genuinely apologetic. It also seems like he cares for Meg a LOT more than he lets on… I still don’t really want them to end up back together because most of the time, he’s a jerk (although I have lately changed my tune and have decided that basically anyone can be redeemed even if I don’t know how), but that was good to see. His defense of Meg and her nonexistent involvement, though, spoke volumes.
…But how did Verges and Dogberry even get him to the point of confession??
Pedro and Claudio’s reactions were pretty perfect (especially Claudio's, honestly) even though I’m still quite mad at them… I kind of hate how they have to hear the absolute truth before they definitively realize that they were completely wrong. I know that’s how it goes in the play, but Shakespeare was writing in a fairly sexist society (to say the least on that front). I just wish I could have seen a little bit more regret from them in the meantime. But I think it had been there for a while, even if they hadn’t shown it. They just didn’t want to express it. Not saying that's right, but... It makes sense.
Claudio has a lot of stuff to work on, and I still really don't want him to get back with Hero. Like at all. But they can at least be civil, I guess. And his face at the end... I died for a minute there... So um yeah.
As for Pedro... Pedro is worried about John as well as angry at John, and it kind of almost makes sense that that's what's taking precedence at the moment. I don't think he's necessarily ignoring his guilt about Hero being, you know, dead, but I do sort of think he's a bit in shock. I mean, think about it: a girl you've known for years suddenly disappears for weeks after your friend, her boyfriend, publicly denounced her, and then your half-brother's friend randomly comes to tell you that she's dead? Don't you think you would have heard it from a slightly more reliable source before then? Like maybe said possibly-dead girl's cousin, who happens to be your former best friend and also extremely furious with you at the moment? Let's be real here: if Hero actually died, Bea would most likely literally kill both Claudio and Pedro, and she'd probably scream insults and curses at them the entire time. And I think Pedro is very aware of this. So. He might just be thinking that he'd already know before Robbie, of all people, had a chance to tell him. And since he didn't... He might not believe it, and after he rationalizes, it will probably still come as a shock. He was blind-sided by this information, come on.
...Okay, that's enough for Pedro. Not sure where that came from.
Also, I’m very impressed with how the Candle Wasters are handling this part of the story. Good job, guys.
