Tammany Young

He started his career in 1914 playing a character Bill in comedy shorts. In 1915 he moved on to feature length movies. He went back to comedy shorts in 1925 and again in 1930-1932. He was often uncredited in his career. He appeared in 7 W.C. Fields films.

Robert Bolder

He was a short chubby man who started his career in 1915 in comedy shorts and moved on to feature films in 1917. He transitioned thru talkies but had less roles.

Robert McKenzie

He started his career in 1915 in comedy or western shorts often supporting ‘Bronco Billy’. His best roles were in Westerns. Had very minor roles in the 30s, after talkies, often uncredited.

“His New Job” February 1st 1915

“His New Job” (aptly titled) was the beginning of a new period as a film maker. He received almost 10 times the amount he did at Keystone - Essanay gave him $1250.00 a week and a $10,000 sign on bonus.

His Essanay period, nestled between his introduction to the cinema (Keystone) & his mastering of it (Mutual’s), is the least mentioned of his film periods, It is a shame because some of his best created with Essanay - “The Bank”, “Work”, “Carmen”, “Police”….
