thinking about kearns again...guy who is usually very calm and seems very sweet but he's really difficult to have a normal conversation with. guy who gets excited when the ship he's on is in a battle because it means he might get to fight somebody. guy who wears nothing but his Navy uniform to the point that people don't recognise him without it. guy who maybe doesn't love his job enough but he's good at it and he likes how important it makes him to the crew. guy who holes himself up in his house when he's on land and sits in the dark writing secret poetry until he can go back to sea again

i need to talk about kearns more he's so...he's like if dr mccoy was a 19th century navy surgeon. bitchy on purpose. craves violence. big guy. hates his brother. amputations are his favourite pastime. writes secret poetry. wears nothing but his navy uniform. stiff hands. nice smile...hes my big beautiful girlfriend and i love him so much

thinking about that time george had to dig a musket ball out of his own body and frederick without thinking pocketed it and only remembered when they got home but george didn't want it obviously so frederick gave it to kearns...who keeps it in his bedside table
