Oscar Isaac’s reactions to a reporter’s nonchalance about an earthquake in Taiwan is hilarious 😂

So Oscar Isaac begins the interview, cheerfully waving hello…
…and saying, “Hi, Taiwan! I hope you enjoy Moon Knight! 😁”
The interviewer goes, “To explain, because now we are having a huge earthquake now… 😅
…so if I’m gonna run or something so don't be…”
In shock, Oscar says, “You’re having a huge earthquake?! 😨”
The reporter replies, “Yah, very huge. It’s now still shaking!”
Now in utter disbelief…
… Oscar goes, “What the hell are you doing still talking to me then?!” 🤣
The reporter giggles and replies, “It’s okay! 😆” Without missing a beat, she freakin’ LAUNCHES into her interview like it’s no big deal: “And so, my first question is…
…um, did you do any research for DID and Egyptian culture before…”
Clearly and hilariously taken aback, Oscar says, “Sorry, I can’t get over that you’re in the middle of an earthquake right now.” 🤣
The interviewer responds, “It’s okay, because we are kind of accustomed about… [the biggest] has already hit a few minutes ago…”
Oscar is rendered speechless:
He then goes, “Okay, alright, I hope so…
… I hope there’s nothing hanging above you right now!” 🤣
The interviewer tells him, “Yeah, actually I’m just moving to my, y’know, my door, and I just say, ‘No! I have my interview first!’ 😝”
Poor Oscar 😂 he hasn’t even finished processing the fact that he’s being interviewed in the middle of an earthquake, and then he gets hit with the revelation that the reporter clearly prioritized interviewing him over possibly evacuating, and like 🤣
Then he goes, “Okay! Let’s talk quick!”
So anyway, the interview proceeds, we get like, TWO - just two - regular questions and the accompanying standard responses:
Have you done any research on DID and Egyptian culture?
Really, it was for, um. The Egyptian culture part of it, there was a lot that was interesting, but we had the… the best thing we could have was Mohamed Diab, who is from Cairo, directing the show, and um, he just. You know, the whole thing was to bring as much authenticity, uh, especially when it came to representation of Egyptian culture in the show, both modern and ancient, in the show. And as far as my research into DID, I talked to a lot of mental health professionals, and there was this one book, “A Fractured Mind” by Robert Oxnam, which was like my bible, where he describes his journey through dissociative identity disorder, and that was really helpful in orienting the whole show.
[I don’t know if you’ve heard this before, but] a film critic once said that you are the most successful Marvel actor since Robert Downey Jr..
I did, I mean, that’s an amazing thing to hear, and, you know, he’s one of my idols, and that’s definitely… we wanted it to feel the way that it felt, like that first Iron Man movie, y’know, something totally fresh, and a character that comes in and has a unique tone to it, so that’s, that was… I hope that more people feel that way.
And the interviewer chimes in again, asking the following question: “I don’t know if… did you know that people call you ‘Internet Boyfriend’?”
Oscar humbly responds, “I’m aware that I have been… yes, I have been called that.”
The interviewer reveals another Dune-related curiosity: “And the next one is, ‘your little son Timothée’.”
Isaac notes that he’s heard that one before too: “‘My little son Timothée’, yeah, yeah.”
The interviewer continues: “Actually now, in Taiwan and China, I mean, the Chinese [speaking] world, they called you “daddy”, especially after Dune, because I think they love your beard…?
… In Dune, so they call you “daddy”. Did you know that those kind of nickname they call you, the fans call you, and do you like it?”
And Óscar Isaac Hernández Estrada, bless his heart, gave us what could possibly be the best answer he’s ever given anyone, and it’s the one we all know very well. He went full f—kin’ FLOWER from Bambi and said:
Before the interview concludes, Oscar is asked one final question:
Who is your favorite superhero?
Well, from the movies, I’d say Iron Man for sure. I just love that performance and his, y’know, Robert Downey’s character Tony Stark is just so fantastic.
The interviewer, true to professional form, says, “Thank you so much!”
And with reference to her earlier comments about the earthquake, Oscar Isaac goes, “You’re welcome! Stay safe!”
