I donât post as often as I ought to, so here are two big life updates heading into 2017:
1. Being overweight basically my entire life, Iâve made the decision to have a sleeve gastrectomy on this Tuesday, January 3. Itâs a huge step, but in preparation for this, Iâve lost 60 pounds since September. Hereâs what the procedure entails if youâre interested (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdidwSBnDBs). Thereâs a long way to go and Iâm committed to this journey to be healthier and happier!
2. In December, I accepted a position as an Assistant Director with Auburn Universityâs First Year Experience Office starting January 23. Iâm sad to be leaving Rice, Houston, and the amazing friends and colleague Iâve made here, but I know this is a great step for me. Itâs also wonderful to be back where I completed my NODA Internship in 2009 and I am so excited to see what awaits us on the Plains. Humphreyâs ready for tailgates and my tie collection has been appropriately updated.! War Eagle!
I cannot thank my family and friends enough for their support and love through both of these.
In 12 weeks, Iâve
... lost 50 pounds.
... got a new job that Iâll make Facebook official soon.
... scheduled a life-changing gastric sleeve surgery.
... spent some magical nights with wonderful friends.
... celebrated three lovely couples at their weddings.
... (once more for the back) lost 50-fucking-pounds.

White house staff watching Obama welcome Donald Trump as president.Â
this picture speaks so much
Someone just submitted this oh my god look at the numbers
I really want Hillary to just say âDonald how does a bill get passedâ and just wait for his response
We all know how a bill gets passed. There are some great bills. Beautiful bills. Unbelievable bills.
Will you pass bills, they ask me. I will pass some bills. Some of the best bills.
Hillary will never pass bills. Sheâs never passed any bills. I will pass them. Iâll pass so many bills itâll be yuge. Hillary passed some of the worst bills. Worst bills ever. Unbelievable. Sheâs married to Bill Clinton.
Nevel Shall I Ever
fucking brilliant
this wonât leave my fucking head
not voting for hillary clinton is a vote for donald trump
But also THERE ARE MORE THAN TWO CHOICES IN THIS ELECTION pls people, I know it seems unlikely, but if everyone who didnât want either candidate wrote in a name, someone else would stand a chance [and we could live with ourselves, not having voted for one or the other]
no they wouldnât, literally do not do this
please educate yourself about nader and the 2000 presidential election before encouraging this literally terrible idea
People on both sides say âNot voting for my candidate is a vote for the other guyâ No, itâs just not a vote for your fucking candidate. Vote for who you actually believe in, otherwise you might as well not vote. If Hillary actually gave a damn she would try harder than just say âVote for me cause Iâm not Trumpâ No bitch, how about you show me something I can believe in. God damn, no wonder so many people donât fucking vote.
*sigh*
Let me explain why they say a vote for a 3rd candidate or not voting for Hillary is voting for Trump:
The United States does not have a direct democratic voting system. We have an indirect system called the electoral college. The electoral college is a compromise between election of the President by a vote in Congress and election of the President by a popular vote of qualified citizens.
To win the Presidency you do not need a popular majority; you need the majority of votes of the electoral college.Â
The way the college works is that the two parties select the delegates that will serve as electors, and the electors pledge to vote for the candidates, depending on their party affiliation, of either the democratic or republican party. So, when people go vote, they are actually going to vote for electors that have pledged to vote for a specific party/candidate.Â
Each state is allocated a different number of electoral seats, and so not every state is truly worth the same given that every candidate is racing to secure 270 seats (minimum required to win the election).Â
Whatâs important to note is that the electoral college is a winner take all vote in 48 of the 50 states, meaning that the candidate with the higher number of votes in a given state will get ALL of the seats. This is one of the reasons why third party candidates are a wasted vote.Â
Based on our countryâs history, most States around the country have already been defined as either red or blue, because the majority of the people that go and vote in said states tend to stick to either one or the other no matter who is on the ballot. It becomes a bit of loyalism to a party or, more accurately, just a strong distaste towards the ideals of the other party. However, there are a few swing states that really define the elections, for each election cycle they tend to change depending on who is on the ballot.Â
Now, third party candidates, which is often used as a protest vote, have never worked because a) they are not written into every state ballot, meaning that there are states that donât offer these candidates given that they did not qualify b) have rarely gotten enough votes to even be up for electoral seats c) ALWAYS end up hurting one of the two candidates, for, in close runs, they can make one of the other two candidates lose a SWING STATE.
This is what happened with Ralph Nader in 2000. The votes that he received hurt Gore in certain states, particularly florida, which led to Bush winning as he had the majority of electoral seats even though he did not have the majority in popular vote.Â
Now, in the latest poll, it shows that the race between Hillary and trump is very close, and, when third party candidates are involved, it actually HURTS Hillaryâs chances.Â
Now, if it hurts her enough, Trump can obtain the much needed swing states. If he gets over 270 seats (and thus more than hillary) he WILL win the goddamn election.Â
This is not a year to vote for a third party candidate. This is not a man you want in the oval office of the most powerful country in the world.Â
There is nothing NOTHING you can pull out that will make Trump the lesser of two evils.Â
We live in a country that has a two party system, so yes, a vote for a 3rd party candidate or a non-vote IS actually a vote for trump.Â
And if you still donât get why voting third party will never make a difference in this country and in fact ensure the election of the candidate you donât like, listen to this nice man explain it with animals so itâs easier to understand
I was a Bernie supporter too, but âBernie or Bustâers are fucking idiots. Yes the system is corrupt, but you certainly wont fix anything by letting Trump win. Put your personal ideals aside for the good of the country.Â
Here, I even made a graph
If Everyone Pulls Together And Votes Hillary
If Yâall âBernie Or Bustâ People Vote Third Party
See? Not that hard.
Seriously, guys, do not vote third party. The electoral college will not vote third party. I know it sucks and itâs unfair, but itâs pull your heads out of your asses or have President Trump.
And this is why Americaâs political system really, REALLY sucks at Democracy.

Iâm up late working on my Halloween costume and some housework with reruns of All in the Family playing on the channel that I watched last before clearing some of whatâs on my DVR. This is eerily similar to some of the current arguments and rhetoric about guns despite the fact that this episode originally aired in September of 1972. Yes, 44 years ago.Â
THIS IS THE CAST OF SPIDER MAN ARE YOU KIDDING ME
This movie is already my favorite movie

These are the greatest thirty seconds ever recorded and I Canât. Stop. Reblogging.
My buddy read an article about octopus intelligence. It was feeding time, and the handler dumped some shrimp into an octopusâ tank. Then he went into another room and sat at his desk.
A while later, a shrimp was tossed onto his desk.
The octopus, upon finding one bad shrimp in the lot, had grabbed it, escaped its tank, crossed the hall, and threw the expired shrimp at its caretaker. Not only does this showcase their problem-solving capabilities, but also that it could have escaped at any time. It just broke out this time to chuck an off shrimp in indignation at its handler. Thatâs not just intelligence, thatâs a human-like reaction. Kinda make you wonder exactly how smart these guys can beâŠ
OH MY GOD
I went to the aquarium once and we had a tour and we walked past the octopus tank and it was duct taped shut so I asked why and the guy was like. âWell, we had a problem before because these fish were disappearing randomly at night and we had no idea why. Turns out the octopus had memorised the night guards rounds and would creep out of its tank, crawl across the floor to the fish tank, have a little snack and be back in its own tank with the lid shut before the guard came back.â they are super smart
I love octopuses so, so much.
@_@
I am both delighted and FUCKING TERRIFIED.
Once I went to the aquarium where they had a baby pacific red octopus in a tank. I had gone there to work on a few real life sketches, obviously I wanted to do one of an octopus. So I kinda just kneeled in front of the tank, and started sketching. The octopus didnât mind, he sat happily. Then, 5 minutes later, he started moving to the front of the tank, where I was. This tiny octopus faces me directly and starts posing. I donât know how other to explain it but he started curlung his tentacles in this really graceful way then wouldnât move for a few minutes. Then again, a new pose. That tiny cute motherfucker knew I was drawing him.
This song is more often than not the last thing I hear each night before drifting off, the most played song on my iTunes, and something Iâd dream of and dread hearing live.Â
