When you think they couldn't get more stupid... then tell me, Queller and Rovner, why did you show superman proposing to Lois in the Fortress when two seasons earlier you already showed Alex proposing to Maggie? We already had one proposal scene, it wasn't necessary, It was obvious she would have said yes. Or Kara telling Nia she's supergirl, she already told Winn and Lucy... OH MAYBE BECAUSE THEY ARE DIFFERENT CHARACTERS WITH DIFFERENT RELATIONSHIPS THAT ARE NOT DEFINED BY OTHER RELATIONSHIPS?
For God's sake, that was the stupidest thing I have ever read in my life
And they call themselves showrunners

Loved the crisis podcast episode. Both of you do so much research, it feels so nuanced that I honestly feel more intelligent than I was before hearing it. But I wanted your thoughts on something-Went to see the Crisis aftermath episodes after listening to your podcast. There Kevin Smith made a remark about how SG was brought in because they couldn't get Superman. So through her they can tell his stories. I honestly found it demeaning, especially since Rovner very enthusiastically agreed with it.
Ohhhh, Kevin Smith. He means so well and yet always manages to say enough words to put his foot in his mouth.
Those comments are a bit disappointing (although not terribly surprising if the commentary is coming from men whose childhood frame of reference was Superman, a character they likely idolized), but – regardless of the whys behind the scenes or the use of Superman’s plots/characters, Supergirl was still a stepping stone toward changing the industry narrative around the success of female-led superhero content. And, you’ll note, the CW’s superhero content will be mostly female-led after this year. Wonder Woman has been the most successful DC property at the box office of late. All of that has happened since 2015.
In essence, whether it was the original goal or not, you still have a generation of TV-watchers who will grow up thinking of characters like Supergirl, White Canary, Batwoman, and Thunder as heroes who deserve to be at the front of the pack. And that’s pretty awesome.
