Robert’s driving, stretched out and languid even in a car, one hand on his thigh, the other on the steering wheel. “Nobody’s spoiled the surprise this time around?”
There’s a wry twist to Robert’s mouth, but Aaron feels momentarily guilty. He’s still gutted they never got to Vegas, but is sure whatever Robert’s got planned will make up for it. “Mum’s not blabbed, you know that."
Robert brushes a hand through Aaron’s hair. His eyes flick to the road as the cars inch forward a little, but looks back as soon as they’ve crawled to a stop. “Clue: a holiday destination, you love it, I think it’s tacky.”

“I barely let you be there for me when you were here,” Aaron pointed out, “you would have had no chance then.”
“Really?”
“Oh trust me,” Aaron smiled. “I did not go for arrogant pretty boys.”
“You think I’m pretty?”
“I think you’re gorgeous,” Aaron said. “What? No comeback?”
“My husband thinks I’m gorgeous. I’m happy with that.”
“If you’d met me sooner you’d have hated me, and I would have ruined any chance to have this with you. I love what we have, I love how we built a life together, I love everything about our lives… You need to stay with me.”
“I’m trying,” Robert said, his eyes fluttering shut. “Thank you…”
“Don’t you dare thank me,” Aaron said, “you are not saying goodbye to me just yet.” In the distance he could hear the sirens and he wished them to come faster. “Come on, Robert. Don’t you dare.”

i just want chas to be able to not want her mother in her life and faith (and other ppl) to accept it but!! it’s not happening!!
same same same!!!! that’s all i want!!! it’s perfectly valid and okay for chas to not want her mother in her life, and to want her mother to leave her alone and stay out of her life. Just because faith is her biological mother does not mean chas has to have a relationship with her?? and i wish other characters would say that and respect that (i wish emmerdale would say that and respect that). Like... I’m sorry but faith does not deserve gratitude for (barely) trying... and chas does not in any way owe faith her forgiveness.
