The Murder of Tina Harmon
Tina Marie Harmon was a 12-year-old American girl, she lived with her family in Ohio.
On 29th October 1981, Tina was dropped off by her father's girlfriend in Lodi, Ohio. Witnesses reported seeing her with a man in his twenties. When Tina failed to return home later that day her family reported her as missing and the search began. Tina's body was found next to an oil well five days after she went missing, she had been raped and died by strangulation. Carpet fibres and dog hairs were found on her clothing.
In 1982, two men were convicted of the rape and murder of Tina Harmon. After complications with witness testimonies both were re-trialled and released.
The case was eventually solved by DNA advancements. In 1984, Robert Anthony Buell was convicted of the murder of Krista Lea Harrison in 1982. Forensic advances make it possible to match dog hairs from a dog buried in Buell's garden to the hairs found on Tina's body. Buell's DNA was also matched to DNA found on Tina's clothing. Buell was never tried for Tina's murder as he was already on death row. Buell was executed in 2002 for Krista Harrison's murder.
