@robertshandsaremyweakness replied to your post “explanations (robert/aaron, vic)”
Do you think you could continue this? Like, how do you envision Robron getting back to being a couple again? How would Robert cope with seeing Seb again, meeting Vic's boy and Eve? How would he cope with being back in the village? Please, if you want to obviously, carry on! I loved this!! ❤❤❤
So as for plans to continue this exact set up... probably, though I'll likely make it it's own story cause I have a few post reunion / prison aftermath fics where things take different routes, especially depending on how they handled the prison sentence and where they are now. But I might just make a direct sequel to this as well cause there's just so much here.
So for this particular fic, I don't think Robert's going to cope particularly well with reintegrating back into village life because he shut it out for 6 years, but he's going to try and pretend like nothing's changed and he's the same person he was because he thinks that what everyone wants. It'd be really tough going for Robert to come face-to-face with all that he missed and how the weight of feeling like he's failed his family just keeps slowly crushing him a bit. (He'll seek counseling and eventually tell Aaron the entire truth of his crippling low self esteem.) It's just Robert feeling like he doesn't belong and knowing that it's his own fault and feeling like maybe he shouldn't try to force it. (Though his nephew who I have yet to name but I am leaning toward Vic naming him Robert because I will light myself on fire if she names him after Andy will absolutely adore Robert from the start. And Seb, though a little shy, Aaron's told him many stories and talked about Robert the entire time Robert was in prison because he knew how important it would be for both Seb and Robert to have a relationship and understanding of each other.)
I think Aaron would sort of want them to get back together immediately because even angry he never stopped loving or missing Robert and he actually does understand now that Robert's explained it. But he can sort of tell that Robert's sort of not ready for that just yet because he's still holding onto the guilt of his choices and terrified that once Aaron sees he's not the same that he'll go. In my head, it's sort of like a reversal of the abuse storyline and who's supporting who. But Aaron will eventually propose to Robert again who will just absolutely not see that coming and they'll live happily ever after because I demand it.
