John Wetton, Robin George, Carl Palmer, Don Airey w/ special guest Phil Manzanera
Marquee Club, June 5, 1986
Gone Clubbing! at the Marquee, London. 1986 June 4 & 5.
Charity gig with the line-up of John Wetton, Robin George, Carl Palmer and Don Airey. With Phil Manzanera as guest. A total of three bootlegs exist for this pair of shows. 1 recording from the first show titled Go Clubbing! and 2 for the second night Go Clubbing! 2 and Wet Dreamz * According to Robin George’s (official?) channel on youtube which posted some clips from the show, there was a total of three gigs. However, I personally haven’t been able to find anything about the possible third night.
Below is Don’t Cry from one of the shows. There are also a few other clips, some posted by Robin George and a few other shorter ones by another user.
Setlist:
Sole Survivor (Asia)
Only Time Will Tell (Asia)
Go Down Fighting (Robin George)
(Phil Manzanera joins) Keep On Loving Yourself (Wetton/Manzanera)
Don't Cry (Asia)
Heartline (Robin George)
The Smile Has Left Your Eyes (Asia)
Honky Tonk Woman (Rolling Stones Cover)
Don Airey Keyboard Solo
Dangerous Music (W/ Carl Palmer Drum Solo) (Robin George)
Time Again (Asia)
Back In The USSR (The Beatles cover)
Heat Of The Moment (Asia)
(Still one of my most wanted bootleg recording(s). If anyone knows anything, I’d really appreciate it - I know that some Japanese websites sell them, but I have a bit of a personal problem with purchasing legally grey unofficial recordings.)
Okay, this is a bit of a last resort but it’s driving me absolutely nuts. There are three nights at the Marquee in 1986, of Asia in all but name. Consisting of the lineup of Wetton George Airey Palmer, w/ Phil Manzanera as a guest. There are some footage on youtube and such, but bootleg version(s) exist, and have been released on CD in Japan. I can’t seem to find it digitally anywhere. Tried all my usual haunts for bootlegs, no luck. Sifted through many dodgy sites, went through more malware warnings than I could count...If anyone, know anything...please? It’s already becoming the thing for which I won’t stop until I find it..... :(
Robin George-Dangerous Music II
Robin George-Dangerous Music II
Dangerous Music II is, as if you hadn’t guessed is the follow up to Robin’s impressive Dangerous Music debut, an album that spawned ‘that song’. I will try not to mention it’s title, as even though it is a great track, Robin has a lot more to offer, as is evident on this release, which due to Robin’s record company going bankrupt, hasn’t seen the light of day in nearly 30 years. As you would hope…

Tezcatlipoca
‘Tezcatlipoca’ is a three minute animated short from 2009 by Robin George, inspired by the music from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and the Aztec myth of Tezcatlipoca, a “deity who descends from heaven in the form of a jaguar”. This was George’s senior thesis at Southern Adventist University’s School of Visual Art and Design. The animation department there is run by Disney veteran animator, Hendel Butoy (The Black Cauldron, Fantasia 2000).
