Was reminded of this old piece in conversation with friends today, and thought I'd give it a little bit of spotlight. While my writing has changed a lot since (the story is ten years old this year, and the comic is only a little younger), this story will always have a very special place in my heart.
(Also, at one point, I gave a copy of it to Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance, because of reasons.)
A Song for My Brother
To save the life of his sister, N’iel broke the sacred law of their race and condemned both her and himself to exile. When N’iel succumbs to a fatal disease, it is L’iume’s turn to see how far she will go in saving her brother.
This tale was originally written as a short story (read here; 1900 words), then turned into a 40-page comic in collaboration with Emery, my lifelong partner in all story things (read here; free or pay-what-you-want).
Do check it out. There are robot unicorns involved.
P.S. Don't mind the outdated creative aliases in the linked files; while none of the old names are quite dead, their honorable retirement is underway, gold watches and all.
