Today’s prompt was Octopus and the RNG gods gave me an old character with a lot of firepower. now she has a LOT more!!!

Will the Military be using proper fire arms instead of laser blasters? (Anne’s mom using a gun is enticing to me.)

I don't actually know enough about guns but yes, they will be using generic Brand-Name assault rifles. But it's not like they'll be super effective because guess what happens when you shoot ordinary rifle rounds against thick reinforced steel plates? Nothing.

And you might think "Well, the US army has armour piercing bullets", yes but that's a logistic problem because 1. how much is available in the city of Los Angeles at that given time, 2. how many can be transported there during an unprepared emergency, and 3. how fast will it be? Remember, in times of war or any kind of violent conflict, the winner isn't the one with the biggest gun; it's the one who has a gun at all. Logistics and supply triumphs any military might.

So it would justify the use of high-end equipment like what Mr X supplied. But since they're probably experimental, it wouldn't be so mass-produced. Of course, that doesn't mean I'm going to make it look as if the rest of the military sucks or anything. In the grand scale of things, they'd still be doing most of the work. It's just the X-Commandos (yeah, that's what I'm calling them) would be more effective.

Most importantly, I'm giving Polly a gun.

 Hope Federation “Glowrym” Laser Carbine: A high powered laser weapon used by mid rank Federation soldiers. It gains it’s nickname due to the two fusion breakers that glow bright yellow when it overheats. Good at medium to long range, can punch holes through solid steel with ease.

Gzherme Tactical Scatter Gun: A heavy duty laser scatter gun used by mercenary squadrons or bounty hunters. It has been banned for civilian use, due to how easily it can damage spaceship hulls. It fires white hot plasma propelled by electromagnetic waves. It can be fired blind in a blast, or locked onto to metal targets for a concentrated spray. Since it homes in on metal targets and burns through armor, it is a favored weapon against robots and androids.

Improvised Ray Slinger: A crude pipe weapon that shoots a short beam of concentrated energy. It is easy to make and surprisingly effective. It can blast holes in most armor and is a favored weapon of revolutionaries across the galaxy. It’s major drawback is how quickly it can drain batteries and a lack of standardized parts.

Antique ‘Owens’ Wave Blaster: A classic design from the renowned gunsmith Adijer Owen. The delicate clockwork and focused lenses allow for quick bursts of non-lethal energy waves. While it only has a short range it is hard to miss as the wave rings spread quickly and incapacitate targets quickly. Has not been fired in years and may no longer work.

Magnon Orbit Gun: A rare weapon from the Magnon forges, this gun uses a portable gravity well to shoot powerful rays of crushing gravity. On lower settings it can stun targets with its weaponized gravity, and on higher settings it can crush targets into powder upon contact. This weapon takes a lot of effort to maintain since the gravity well warps the materials with time.

Yertech “Needle” Splinter Pistol: The standard issue sidearm of the Grand Ring Peacekeepers. It fires bolts of concentrated electricity that incapacitate targets and burn on contact. Being hit with a bolt from a Splinter Pistol feels like the sting of a massive insect, but they are very rarely lethal.

Like its basically a flashlight that burns you in one particular spot. Its just a gun that gives you a 3rd or even 4th degree burn in like one area.

And if that area is not your heart or brain then it would probably not even kill you right away. There's no penetration to cause you to bleed out like a normal gunshot wound. It would just give you wicked bad health problems from cooking whatever organ you hit.

And if it's theoretically hot enough to actually pierce or melt something like it does in movies and game. Wouldn't that make the surrounding area like... really REALLY hot? Like I'm not even talking the internals of the laser, just the blast itself and the heat that would linger and it's dispersal?

If someone has a good counter to this I would be interested in hearing it. I'm actually not much of a science person.
