What RWBY Ship(s) do you think would be a tragic romance from the get-go?
Caged Bird (Qrow X Willow):
They would absolutly be tragic because say they met when they were young, Qrow could fall in love with Willow because she seems so lovely and beautiful, almost perfect to him, while Willow loves him because he gives her freedom, makes her feel uncaged. But Jacques manipulates her to marry him in order to save the SDC and not wanting to see her father's buisness fail, she agrees and while Qrow begs her to not marry him and run away with him and be happy, Willow can't because she believes this is her responsibility.
This could lead to them having a one night fling after Qrow discovers that Jaques hits her, and gives Willow one night of love and passion which either leads to the revelation that Weiss or Whitely are the product of that night, but Willow never tells Qrow but Qrow figures it out, but believes he'll just watch over them and learns about Weiss or Whitely secretly while protecting them.
Qrow tries to act like a father figure to them whenever he has the chance but Willow drags them away and just tells Qrow to leave them alone leaving Qrow sad and thinking that he's not truely cut out to be a father and begins leaving them alone.
I'd end this ship with Qrow dying, sad that he never got to be happy or know his child, while thinking about the life he and Willow could've had, and Willow learns of his death and begins to hate herself and finally reveals the truth to Weiss or Whitely.
Emercury (Emerald x Mercury)
Both start out as villains, yet both want to change after witnessing what they've done to innocent people during the Vale attack. However, Mercury believes that being a killer is all he's good at while Emerald actively tries to be better but the hero's are hesitant to trust her.
Mercury uses the heroes not trusting Emerald as a reason of why she should come back, trying to get Emerald to come back to him, because he's jealous that she's trying to be better while he's still stuck being what he hates. However, Emerald knows that she has to earn their trust and refuses to go back because she wants to be better and begs him to come with her because she doesn't want him to become more of a monster and the very thing he hates.
The ship could end with Mercury finally ready to change and planning on going with Emerald only to be killed by Tyrian, Salem, or Cinder, or Emerald is killed by Cinder for her betrayal, which caused Mercury to turn and finally become the person Emerald believed he could be, but sad that Emerald won't be by his side or see his change.
RoboticKnight (Jaune x Penny)
Jaune treats Penny normally despite her quirks, and Penny likes that Jaune treats her normally and likes that he isn't bothered by her trying to be more human. However, Penny realizes that she can't feel anything, and has to pretend to feel Jaune, which causes her to be sad because she wants to be real for Jaune, wants to actually experiance his hugs, and his kisses, and is angry that she can't and feels like she's holding Jaune back from actually loving someone whi can "feel" and breaks up with him before her fight with Pyrrha
When they reunite in Volume 7, Penny admits why she broke up with Jaune and Jaune understands and asks her if they can try again, which penny agrees and they start dating again, and even begin to become much closer, though Penny still somewhat has doubts due to her being synthetic, but Jaune reminds her that he loves her no matter what.
Then the finale of Volume 8 happens...
